Reverse Waltz 3,2,1 - 3 ball Stableford

Another Houdini act  as far as the weather was concerned saw 30 seniors battling hard for honours. Winners once more came from people in form in recent weeks. Chris Hiam once again performed well and scored 39 points in 14 holes. His card will be going to Frank to complete a set of 3 cards that Frank was after. Watch the space for a handicap adjustment.

I wrongly accused Vice Captain and his team of slow play and Mark wasn’t happy with that statement of mine.

The point was that you don’t have to play slowly to hold the game up. On three occasions all three players were looking for a lost ball some 40 yards further ahead of the other two balls with two players having to go back 40 yards to hit their second shots. Please play your ball first before looking for a lost ball as specified on a circular put out early this year on slow play.

From JKP- It's funny how 2 and 2 can make 5 sometimes. It is certainly true that the 2nd group felt things were going slowly at times as we experienced the Yo-Yo effect with the group in front. In the Clubhouse I asked MC if they had a "2" on the 16th as they finished the hole very quickly. "No", he replied " but with 1 to count we just moved on"...Oops as this should have been a 3 to count until we worked out they were playing 3,2,1 on each group of 6 holes - so they had 3 to count on the tough starting 6 and backed up the field a little as we had 3 groups on the 2nd right from the start. We finished in 3 hours 15 and the first group in just 3 hours .

The winners today were.

1st Alan Chance, Chris Hiam (39 / 14 holes) & Martin Bargery

2nd  Roger Davis (39 / 13 holes), Frank Martin & Alan Davis

3rd John Wandless, John MacOmish & Richard Hall

What a start for Team Chance, who started over on 16th with 3 to count and boy did they get off to a flyer.
