( renamed Friday 10th October 2014)
Golfers aged from 55 upwards who meet to play and enjoy golf and so much more. We have around 140 members with handicaps ranging from 2 to 42+...
Almost without fail, come rain or shine, we hold a ‘Roll-Up’ every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. If we have no Organised Competition there is no need to book, just turn up and join us. Please check Seniors Calendar Card or Website for updates on what we are doing at each Roll-Up.
The current captain is a big user of the Seniors WhatsApp Group and if you have a Mobile Phone, it's a great place to keep up with any changes or appeals for players etc - see James Siabi to be added to the group.
The first group assemble for an 07:45 Draw and the late risers attend the 08:45 Session. Each player has a name card (we supply) and they are shuffled up come draw time.
Thus every time you play you meet someone new. The Cards are dealt according to what game we are playing. This will have been pre-determined by the Seniors Captain, Dave Mugridge.
It could be an Individual, Pairs, 3-Ball or 4-Ball. It can be 4BBB, Greensomes, Foursomes, Bowmaker, Texas Scramble – you name it and we have probably played it. If you’ve never played a ‘Yellow-Ball’ Stableford then you will not yet know the meaning of ‘Pressure’ !
Any Prizes are shared by the Team as are Birdies / Twos which can also reap rewards.
In amongst the normal Roll-Up we have several additional Competitions that run through the Year, as well as allocated days to play ‘Qualifiers’ which will keep your handicap ‘Active’ and up to date through the official Club Computer 'Intelligolf' System.
We also play Friendly Matches against most of the other Golf Clubs in the Area. This amounts to some 32 (total) Fixtures both home and away.
Our Captain this Year is supporting
so he will be eyeing up your wallet throughout the Year with special events and Raffles. We have several fixtures with the Ladies Section and other fixtures or events that involve Wives and Partners.
From comments we hear, we are a very friendly group and you soon learn to take the good days with the bad, as one day you are drawn out with Star Players and another time with those at the other end of the scale.
After every Roll-Up the Captain issues a report of the Day’s play and the winners & losers. This is Emailed to all those enabled and is also added to our Website.
Reports are also submitted to the Chard & Ilminster every week.
