Texas Scramble for Ciara Survivors

*** Winter League re-scheduled for Friday 14th February ***

This was truly a bonus day as no one was expecting to see the course open let alone playing 18 holes. The weather was kind and 12 seniors with a questionable mental status turned up to play golf.

Apart from slightly windy conditions and a few rain droplets every now and then, they seemed to have enjoyed their golf.

The winners of today’s 3 ball scramble were

Dave Mugridge, Roger Davis and Mike Hone with a score 59.0 Receiving £4 each add to that another £1 for one of only two 2’s. The other 2 was by Roger Hinds, Martin Leigh and James Siabi.

Dave Mugridge, Roger Davis & Mike Hone           59.00

Rod Stevens, Norman Markby & John Pearce        61.17

John Evans, Mark Cording & Bob Barrow             62.50

Roger Hinds, Martin Leigh & James Siabi             65.17

James Siabi

We insisted on Handicap calculations, but as usual The Gross Scores reflected the same order as the Nett scores with 65, 69, 69 & 71 respectively.

By the luck of the Draw, the 4 lowest Handicappers were drawn in 4 different groups.

Nett 65....not their day today as 5 under Par just wasn't low enough

Farmer Bob normally shines in these conditions and Mark was a Driving Monster..but made a '2' to compensate for their  8 under Par 62 score.

With a 3,3,3, finish and just one blemish on their card - Rod, JKP & Norman rue the bogey on the 4th with a missed short putt.

With Bunkers GUR Rod took a calculated risk and took out his Driver on the 18th - and so near an Eagle but we all missed...Norman was about 1 inch off sinking his.

Obviously the best Individual on show today as Dave took 24 of the 18 Drives when the limit was removed by the Captain.... celebrated the win with due modesty in the Clubhouse.

Winner takes-all today...  as theirs was the only score under 60 - which was pretty impressive in the blowy conditions.

and a passing driver handed back a bright red Volvik ball from the DM/RD/MH Group...but no names here....

Oops as Dave , Roger & Mike make Bogey on the 2nd Hole.

No Trees were lost in the Storm as Cricket shows its resilience once more...one of the only courses open today in Somerset.
