The Eggs are a select group who play very early in the morning and usually number under 9, so often add a few 'Social members' to their bigger functions and we are all delighted to accept.
Burns Lunch update - Our apologies to those with next Friday's Lunch in their diaries, but we have decided not to proceed with the event. Nothing had been booked with the Club and given the lack of time to prepare all the paraphernalia, we don't have the resources to recover in time. The Good news is that we promise to put things right around St George's Day ( 23rd April).
Even more good news is that there are plenty of Burns Suppers for you to attend in the area; such as Weymouth; Portland; Bridport; Eype Holiday Camp etc
We thought we had even better news as Derek "Newsflash" Gardener says there was one advertised in the CST Newsletter - but after much research we feel he must be referring to the "Burgers Night" - Close Derek but no gold watch.
Much sympathy was expressed for Ian Fielder who has always had to look after his delicate eyes, but now has issues with them both, meaning he cannot drive or even read. Hopefully the problems are resolvable and he will be back with us shortly.
Report
With this in mind, I have informed the early groupings that if they are only ONE group, they will play their own game, leaving the late group to play unrestricted as far as the format goes.
The winners today were the usual suspects who occupied the top 3 positions.

2nd Mark (always on the winning side) Cording, Richard (steady) Agar & Alan Chance
3rd Dave (always there or thereabouts) Mugridge, Mike (the dark horse) Hone & Eric Williams
Team Points Prize Each
Bob Barrow, Chris Hiam & John Evans (B9) 78 £4.50
Marc Cording, Alan Chance & Richard Agar 78 £3.50
Dave Mugridge, Mike Hone & Eric Williams 77 £2.00
There were Six 2’s paying £0.88 per birdie per person
Bob Barrow, Chris Hiam & John Evans 1 £0.88
Paul England, Bob White & Peter Spencer-Farr 1 £0.88
Dave Mugridge, Mike Hone & Eric Williams 2 £1.76

Captain
Captain was keen to advertise and support Captain's Drive-In a week Saturday , but on checking with Pro Shop all slots for the Golf were filled with a wait list. One idea that came up, to help avoid having 2 weeks with all those white markers down the 5th ( where people guess where each captain will hit their ball) - was to sit in reception and offer a free Golf ball to the youngsters for every 5 markers they collect. We have quite a few balls already, but if you have any half-decent ones lying around they would be gratefully received.
Hopefully this year, we won't need anyone running down the A30 to recover balls as happened in 2019....
Report
Unexpectedly nice weather saw 31 ( 4
early birds and 29 late starters ) playing 2 from 3 discard stableford. A
couple of points of concern came about that need mentioning. Firstly the early
starters had 4 members and decided to play as two-balls and a Random Pro for
each team. With the rules not clarified clearly to them that the pro scores 3,
2 & 3 on the first 3 holes and 3,2 & 3 on the last 3 holes which was
decided with late starters. This left a two-ball in the later group, hence they
had to start with a Random Pro. This has been said many times before but it
seems that it is falling into deaf ears. In this particular case, the 2nd
team from the late starters finished just 4 minutes behind with the 2 ball been
let through already. Only if one of the them had stayed behind to play with the
rest, we would have had perfect numbers to play the games as planned.
With this in mind, I have informed the early groupings that if they are only ONE group, they will play their own game, leaving the late group to play unrestricted as far as the format goes.
Before we get back to today’s game, I like
to thank everyone who took notice of our advice on slow play. In fact the first
5 teams finishing their rounds between 2hr 50m and 3hr 15min leaving slowest
team on the course (the 6th team) 3.5 holes behind. Must say it was
a big improvement on previous rounds. Thank you, keep it up.
