4BBB Stableford - revised due to 15 Holes
please read Scam warning  at the bottom of this post, one of our members got the phone call...

Within an hour of tee of we had one of the most beautiful days of the last few weeks as if the day before did not exist. 27 seniors, 4 earlies and 23 late starters had a go at playing 4BBB over 15 holes. There were some reasonable scores but one stood out to win the day for Chris Hiam and Bob Rees. Chris scored 29 points on 11 holes with Bob scoring 10 points on the remaining 4 holes an unbeatable score of 39. Not bad for 15 holes competition!!

Runners up with 36 points were Mark Cording and Stuart Pope who had a better back 9 than myself and Dave Mugridge finishing third. Bert and Roger also had a creditable 36 but lost on countback.

Team                                                                              Points          Prize each

Chris Hiam & Bob Rees                                              39                £6.00

Mark Cording & Stuart Pope                                           36     B9    £5.00

James Siabi & Dave Mugridge                                    36               £3.00

There was one 2’s by Siabi & Mugridge team                     1                £7.00

Player 1                              Player 2                         Score         2’s

Bob Rees Chris Hiam 39
Mark Cording Stuart Pope 36
James Siabi Dave Mugridge 36 1
Bert Robinson Roger Davis 36
John Evans Mike Hone 35
David Asquith Richard Hall 35
Peter Spencer-Farr Rod Stevens 34
Danny Dowell Steve Holt 34
Bob Barrow Bob White 31
Norman Markby Richard Forster 31
Chris Gingell Phantom Pro 30
Phil Dewar Andy Beal 29
Gordon Brent Bryan Marsh 28
John Pearce Alan Chance 26

James Siabi (Captain)

Pearce/Chance sitting at the bottom, playing each others ball on 11th didn't help their cause today... As we only had 15 holes the 'odd-man out', Chris G was given a Phantom Pro who could score 2 points on up to 6 holes to assist his efforts.

Well done to the Earlies for revising the format as the Medalford didn't work over 15 holes - subtracting front half from back half etc...

All the Top scores were from the Groups

lowest down the Draw as the weather improved spectacularly.

Danny calculating distance, air density, wind speed etc as usual....

It's just the evil look on Mike's face...

Robert Rees & Chris Hiam - great combination today

Despite being slashed to 27 (90%) - Chris managed to score 3-points on over half the holes. On full handicap he would have score 4 Points on the 5th & 14th and 3 on the 16th.
Scam Warning

One of our members had an early morning call last week, purportedly from Essex Police.
"We have you Grandson in Custody as he was found with your Credit Card, trying to use it in a London Store"...etc etc

Luckily our colleague did not have a Grandson and thus played along for a while until they hung up on him.

They play on the fact that your mind switches to helping a Family Member rather than being objective about the call.

now read the article below from this weeks Chard & Ilminster - many people are taken in by this worrying call.
