2 from 3 Stableford ( Revised due weather)
We arrived to doom & gloom - with only foot-traffic allowed and plenty of Temporaries. Forecast was for rain, but with windy squalls coming through around 11:00. As it was , the early rain wiped out the EGGS completely and just 4 Early Birds remained.
Little point playing an Individual Stableford in these forecast conditions, so Jeremy, Gordon, Neil & Dave played a very competitive 4BBB. Judging by the time it took them to agree the result, it was pretty close, with Gordon & Dave being declared the winners with a respectable 44 Points over 18 Holes and Jeremy & Neil a couple behind.
The late Roll up numbers hovered around 19-20 but a few opted not to play as the rain fell about 08:40 but by the time we dressed it had dissipated and we never saw it again until 3 hours later - when a nasty little 5-minute squall swept through but not even worth getting a brolley out - we were so lucky. Wind did indeed peak at 45 Knots - but it was the same for everyone.
Before we had set out we were presented by the Captain's beautifully drafted Memo on slow play that was agreed at Committee. We'll display here later.
We did see Mick Aldridge drive up, but not sure if he got out to play.
Frank, James & Mike claim to have completed their round in 2 hours 15 Minutes ( 15 Holes) but benefitted when omitting 8,9,19 and sneaked ahead of the early players.
Frank had the only "2" of the day with a beautiful 5-iron into a stiff breeze on the 2nd and a 3-foot put on the Temporary Green.
