4Ball Better-Ball
..and the EGGS Away Day report to follow after the Roll-Up below from Captain...
Escaped bad weather again as the local forecast predicted lots of rain that did not materialise and thirteen pairs played a four ball better ball competition. Despite a strong cross wind lots of scores over 40 points were recorded with Roger Stone and Ted Bryden winning with a fine 44 points (24 on the back nine). Unfortunately, we were unable to find three cards which were misplaced. Six team birdies paid £1 each.

Report from Dainton Park
14 Seniors were at Dainton, being bona-fide Eggs or Invited Guests as 14 played an Individual Stableford in pretty tough conditions.
We had an absolute torrential downpour on the A382 which made driving tricky, but thankfully we saw nothing that bad during the round.
Even once you made the green on 1st hole, the lightening fast surface nearly captured Bernie's put as it accelerated towards the ducks.
John Andrew was getting mad by now as he made pretty much every bunker which had pretty impacted sand after the rain.
Stuart hit an amazing shot astride the ditch and put it on the Green. Chipped in twice and made a 'reasonable' 26 Points...which was enough for 3rd place, which shows how good Alan Chance was.
JKP started steady with 2,3,1,2.1 etc points but OOB on the 7th was a setback, but nothing like the 8th. Stood on the Tee and hit great drive after waiting for group ahead to move down the fairway, with John Andrew merely commenting 'Well that's a safe way to play it'
Then it dawned on me that I was playing down the 9th Fairway and had not noticed the Par 3 on the left !!!!!
back in & seated when another rain storm hit the course phew !
What a lovely meal with Steak & Ale Pie & Suet-Crust Pastry, then came the Red Cabbage, Carrots, Broccoli, Cauliflower Cheese, Baked Potato Slices, & Gravy
( no greens reached Bert's Plate)
Then a Choice of Sweets with Applie & Blackberry Crumble being favoured, Berts even ordered extra Custard as his own private jug arrived which he felt obliged to demolish,
"Who ordered Extra Jugs ?
10 out of 10 to Alan & Mike for their organisation and Dainton for looking after us.
They even laid on the traditional Devon Buxom Barmaid.
Class always shines in tough conditions as Alan & Mike Banfield were the only ones to crack 30 points.
Of course you cannot keep Stuart quiet as he was awarded a trophy from his recent win at Axe-Cliff.
