Wobbly Waltz / Course Maintenance
Although we had early players, six groups of three later seniors managed to follow the published competition which was the new 'Wobbly Waltz' which took a little
It entailed playing a three ball stableford and, on completion of the round,
All teams scored 80 points or over on the shortened course but two players stand out. Nobby Hodder scored 42 points on his own to ensure his team a win and
Mike Aldridge achieved a '2' for 5 points on the 13th hole, well done.
Peter Spencer-Farr Capt.
Summer Knockout has reached the final and two of our best players will meet to decide the outcome.
Danny ( Dashing) Dowell will play Roger ( Hitman) Hinds
So, what is the Cyder Cup all about.
The name gives you a clue and it is modelled on its more famous namesake.
It's something we don't do much of during the year - It's Matchplay format.
Great Fun where the Vice Captain challenges the Captain over 3 Days - so if you are not in a Team you will not be able to play in Roll-Up on 14/16/18th October - as it is usually very popular.
Captain & Vice pick their Teams ( on an alternate basis) - and once you are in a Team you cannot play for the opposition you are firmly RED or BLUE.
Monday 14th - Fourballs. Teams of 2.
Both players simply play their own ball the entire hole, trying to score as low as possible. This is identical to what we play in Interclub Matches 90% of difference to lowest Handicapper in group.
Wednesday 16th - Foursomes.
Teams of 2 again but just playing alternate shots, just 1 ball in play. 50% of difference in combined handicaps.
Friday 18th - The Singles
This is the day it is all decided and the Team Captains have to be tactical in their placings. Everyone will get a game and a leader Board will be maintained in the Clubhouse.
Then the Champagne filled Cyder Cup is presented and it's nice to have as many of the winning Team present.
It's a Comp where you can lose every day..and still be on the Winning Team.
Get your name on the Entry Sheets, Indicate which Days you can Play and we will do the rest. Please ensure the usual suspects - Terry, Richard D, Albie, John B, Brian H, Mark C etc are aware of this and don't just 'Roll-Up' on the Day as they are at risk of not getting a slot.
Back with us yesterday was a jovial and smiling Chris Basterfield.
He wanted to communicate a message to you all about those little spots you find that seem to be changing and growing...a warning !
Chris had one on his Right Hand ( no Glove of course) - and was concerned so had it checked out.
Medicos had it removed for biopsy, which in this case proved OK - but when you see the picture below, there is nothing subtle about the way they remove them …
