Back to the captain's Report...

Bank holiday Monday, Mates Day, saw thick fog and the course closed early on with

members hopping about and chomping at the bit to play. Stood in the way was Alex

who was insisting we wait till it lifted. Home went the earlies and time ticked by with

green fee players gathering on the putting green.

..but BIM was going nowhere...

Eventually after 10am we had the go-ahead

and to avoid a crush we played a 2 from 3 Stableford starting on the 5th tee.

Some twenty Seniors played with one 2 ball playing with a Phantom Pro. The sun

soon came out and just like switching on a radiator the temperature soared,

It went from Foggy & Mild to dark & cold as Bryan was forced to reach for the infamous "blue mac"

Bryan predicting Rain up top and Sun in the nether-regions….

Last team out of Peter SF, John P. and Nick Hill won with 63 points largely due to

Nick holing out on the 12th from 150 yards (receiving two shots!).

Only three birdies were registered and were worth £3 per team.

  • Quantock Stag at Enmore - See external comps for Team photo and the results.

  • County Championships on 4th October at Orchardleigh - We have 17 Players listed and Roger would like 3 more to enter 5 Teams of 4 although this is an Individual Stableford Comp - See External Comps for full details.
  • Monday 2nd Sept Medal - see Internal Comps - 58 Names already which will be drawn shortly and posted on Club Website.
  • Wed Sept 11th - Seniors Championship (re-arranged) - start list on NB and copy posted in Internal Comps -53 Entries thus far...
  • Mon 16th Sept  Stableford Qualifier - 50 odd entries already on NB and copy posted in Internal Comps...chance of Course Maintenance on that day
  • Social Night Tuesday 10th September - Fish & Chips or Curry - Richard has 20 names thus far but in order that we can command the Horizon's Room we really would like at least 10 more - come along and have some fun and let your Wife /Partner put faces to the names - very casual dress .. and lots of daft little activities....new this time will be a Picture Quiz

...also looking to put up 2 or 3 Seniors Teams in the  Club Captain's Day on Saturday 14th September - 2 from 4 Stableford so surely we can raise at least 3 Teams - they can be any combination of player . I will be sponsoring at least one hole, so one team will get a free entry...just £5 per head so not too much pain..any takers ?
See Email from Steve Barry for details.
