Rollup 8th July 2019
Yellow Ball – Bowmaker 2 from 3 to score
Match Report from The Dorset
A lovely day to play golf on a rather nice Dorset course. Loads of bunkers and massive greens overwhelmed most of us. There were more bunkers (massive) in two of their holes than we have on our 18 holes. We ended up losing the match 4.5 to 1.5 but I am sure we will take revenge when they visit us in early September. Sorry Captain I couldn't deliver a better result with my first game in charge.
Chris Rudling / James Siabi lost 2 down
Dave Mugridge / Chris Gingle lost 4 and 3
Roger Davis / Edmondo Paoloni Won 1 up
Alan Chance / Stuart Pope match halved
Derek Gardener / Mark Cording lost 2 down
Barrie Heath / Mike Hone lost 6 & 5
Well done Roger, Edmondo, Alan and Stuart
Vice Captain James Siabi
..and from Nick Hill...
With the Vice Captain and our team playing away at The Dorset
today, John Pearce took over as our Master of Ceremonies. He explained the new
regulations for Yellow Ball comps. and that these rules would apply until the
next AGM. It appears that everyone endorsed the trial although some were heard
to murmur disapproval.
As Nick says, there seemed to be more in favour than against, although a couple of die-hards would not have budged no matter what. It seemed to work very well, each player had a yellow ball and they were played in sequence as before ( Stroke Index this time). If the Yellow was lost, then just that one player reverted to white ball golf. As in game 9 below; Bob dumped the yellow ball on his 2nd shot of the 4th; Ian lost his on the 9th as his Tee-shot disappeared into the long grass; CB proudly walked into the Clubhouse to deposit his Yellow for the 2-point bonus.
My Team stood on the 5th Tee with Mac Everett playing his Yellow for the first time ( High Handicapper) - when I happened to mention that with his 36 handicap, if he could Birdie the hole it would be worth 10 Points....and guess what happened.....
...not quite, he scored nothing but that's another story....

Martyn lost his Yellow on the 4th and Richard H of Team 7 lost his on 10th as his 2nd shot headed for the long stuff. Even with these balls lost, the Teams managed respectable 90 Scores.
Mr & Mrs Leigh were lunching at the Club as Martin paid his penance to Rachael as he is heading off to play Sunningdale tomorrow.....

Thirty five members turned out which meant 2 that would play the July
Rolling Stableford.
Just a few Yellow Balls were lost and consequently, scoring
was high. In particular, two early teams scored heavily, the 1st placed
team scored a 10 pointer and 4 nine pointers and the 2nd placed team
scored a 12 pointer.
There were 5 birdies, each paying £3.48 per team.
Chris Andrews scored 38 points in the Rolling Stableford and
Jerry Stephens 28 points.
