Away ay Fosseway

We had a difficult away match today at Fosseway. Conditions were overcast with an intermittent drizzle.

Although only a fairly short course consisting of nine holes played twice, this is a tight mature tree lined awkward proposition. Add the fact that the greens are small with numerous slopes and very much slower than anything we are used to meant we were under the cosh from the start. The loss by 5 to 1 was therefor some what inevitable. We play Fosseway at home next week in the return leg and we will need to put the two results together to see how much home advantage came into play.

Our Nick Gabb was a very late inclusion to our team and together with Roger Davis was our only successful pairing and saved us from the whitewash. Well done to them. Fosseway G.C. seems to have a bad press when it comes to the away fixture but every course poses its own challenges and the day was enhanced with a fine meal and great company.
