2 from 3 Stableford
An overcast but dry day saw twelve teams of three play in a 2 from 3 to count stableford
competition. A scheduled meeting, primarily to discuss the up coming Senior Open in early
July, saw the committee drawn out together in early slots.
History shows it is unusual for combined
committee teams to do well and cries of cherry picking are unfounded however one such team did win today. Hooray.
Our greens continue to be superb and run very true and in my experience are better than any we play at other clubs. Twelve team birdies today are a testament to this assertion!
Full scores and winning prize money is listed below:-
Peter SPENCER-FARR- Capt.
Prizes each 1st £5.00, 2nd £4.00, 3rd £3.00
There were 12 team birdies paying £0.50 per team member.

| Large entry of Visitors for our Seniors Open on 3rd July |
Yes, old Seniors Michael Light and Rodney Drayton getting ready to rejoin us. Mike tells horrible story about Dementia Care Homes and the Financial issues. After having to pay out a 4-figure sum EVERY WEEK - he finally got a financial helping hand - but his bill was not reduced by ONE PENNY as it was simply taken by the Care Home without any reduction for Mike. Apparently those with money ( or any assets above £23K ) can be charged extra at anytime to supplement those that do not pay anything..until you too are penniless !
Plenty of topics discussed by the Committee today, with the main emphasis being on the Open on the 3rd July where we will have well over 100 people in the final entry list.
Frank is doing a lot of the work normally done for so many years by Alan Davis / Bert - but Alan is still unable to walk.
The Club ( Mark & Co) are heavily involved and we appreciate theit assistance.
The dreaded Yellow ball and the OOB Dilema was another topic and we voted for a slight change in the rules - but we'll await the minutes from Richard before announcing.
Another topic brought up by Barrie was the InterClub Friendlies and the way ahead. Do we want more or less, why do so few people sign up for them etc. They are such great fun and a fantastic way to play golf in Dorset, Devon, Wiltshire, Somerset for about £12:50 including Food and Drink - no Green Fees to pay and the 4BBB Matchplay format produces some interesting results -
You really should give it a try and I bet you will find it very rewarding.
Other general discussions focussed around the difficulty in making contact with other Members, for such things as the Summer Knockout, or getting a lift for travel, or cancelling a trip such as Challenge Cup last Week.
With the advent of GPDR - Societies such as ours are legally obliged to take care of our Members personal information. This means we cannot have a list of contacts anywhere on view, or even on the BLOG as it is open to anyone. What we have committed to do is produce a Directory with name, Home & Mobile Numbers & Email that will be kept locked in the Locker Room Filing Cabinet - which can be assessed by anyone on the Committee to provide you with any required contact details. To this end we will start to update our previous lists . You can help by sending your details to john.pearce.windy@gmail.com or text to 07752 429467 and I will update the list gradually. By doing this we will assume you are happy for this information to be passed to a Seniors Member. Maybe just write on a brown envelope and drop into our mailbox - or tell us at Roll-Up.
We will not circulate this list and will endeavour to protect your privacy as best we can.
