Thursday 6th June
Interclub Match at Cannington
A good fixture today at Cannington Golf Club. We luckily managed
to escape the sharp downpours which seemed to be approaching but always skirted
passed us. Our team managed a fine win by 4 matches to 2 with some solid
performances. Although Cannington is a nine green course, by playing tees from
differing angles and lengths it becomes a fair challenge with some quality
holes.
Peter Spencer-Farr/ Edmundo Paolini won 4 & 3
Dave Mugridge/ Barrie Heath won 3 & 1
Mark Cording/ John Pearce won 3 & 2
Roger Stone/ James Siabi lost 3 & 1
Roger Davis/ Ian Housham won 5 & 4
Ian Griffiths/ Derek Gardener lost 7 & 6
Team win 4 to 2. Well done chaps our first away success!
Although it would appear that Ian and Derek were heavily defeated
Ian was giving 13 shots against a high handicapper who net parred the first
four holes. The home team marry up the pairings but even though all our groups
were giving shots 13 is very difficult to overcome.
This was another friendly yet competitive, reasonably valued, fun
outing with good food and excellent company. I am still struggling for a team
to play away at Fosseway on Tuesday 18th June. People seem to think it clashes
with Glastonbury and it will be difficult to travel to. The festival in fact
does not start until Wednesday 26th. I know some Seniors are checking their
diaries but please don't let me have the embarrassment of cancelling an away
fixture due to lack of numbers.
