Memorial Day

Reminder from Captain Pete-
Senior's Mixed Open on Tuesday June 11th
We need Raffle Prizes, Cakes & a few helpers in this Inaugural event which is filling up nicely & your contributions would be much appreciated...remember every crumb goes to help financing a Guide Dog.

Of course this Year we remember those that gave up so much on one of the biggest campaigns ever seen on this Planet.

But we remembered once more all those that built this Seniors Section and graced our Golf Club in Years gone by:-

plus more recent ones:
We could never forget Reiner who was born in East Germany, was an Olympic Boxer and crossed the Berlin Wall to escape to the West.

He was dangerous in events like a Texas Scramble  where he would play his ball from behind a tree, forcing the group to go back and play from the same spot.

>and Brian who was a Seniors Captain in 1989 and a big part of the Club as Wife Siri also played.

Polite, Charming and always with a smile on the dial.

Keith Potter, who loved his Golf and could tackle anyone on his day, especially with his short game.

Three Man Team- two to count-

Stableford Competition

Good turnout today for the annual Memorial Trophy which gives us all a chance to remember past friends and fellow golfers who have sadly passed away.
John Pearce kindly produced a pictorial as a reminder of the many faces. The instigation of the Trophy, I believe, commenced with Geoff Harris in 2006 who tragically had an accident whilst leaving the club.

The £2 entry fee per person for today is given to charity in their memory.
Thank you all.
The Winners will ,  of course,  receive the Trophy at the AGM in November.

We do payout Birdie money today and as there were six team birdies they were worth £1.25 per person.

On a lighter note, following his Hole- in-One, Brian Marsh has not stopped smiling and beaming  and as a lovely gesture gave a generous donation to Guide Dogs.

Well done to the very first group out this morning of Mike, Tony and Malcolm who set the target of 84 stableford points which was never surpassed. Scoring in general was competitive and close and but for a good putt here or there many teams could have prevailed. Our winning trio scored a solid nine under par 45 points on the back nine holes which sealed the deal. Well done!

There were 6 team birdies paying £1.25 per team member.

Today didn't start too well for the defending Champions who finished at the bottom of the pile today.
