STORY OF THE DAY - TWO HOLES IN ONE
Encouraging match report from the Captain
Having been resoundingly beaten in our away
match at Weymouth G.C. earlier in the campaign it is good to report we reversed
the score with a fine 5 to 1 win today.
The promised sunshine held off until after all
our matches were completed however it could not dampen our spirits as all the
pairings managed a positive result.
Peter Spencer-Farr/ Alan Chance Won 4 & 2
Dave Mugridge/ Robin Flower Won 7 & 6
Roger Davis/ Frank Martin Halved
Mark Cording/ James Siabi Halved
Ian Griffiths/ Paul England Won 4 & 3
Barrie Heath/ Mike Hone Won 5
& 4.
What with our comprehensive team win and the
brilliant registering of two holes in one our Seniors Golf looks in a sound
position going forward. By the way did we miss the drinks offerings placed
behind the bar? We all thought we were in for a session!
Nearest the Pin for our team was Mark Cording
with a Mr Robin Mitchell taking his wine back to Weymouth.
Cannington G.C. is our next opponents this
coming Thursday, just maybe we can record our first away win of the year.
These matches are friendly and great fun and
games are coming thick and fast going into July. Please can we have more
participation from players who might be thinking of playing. Give it a try you
will not regret it.

Rollup Report 31st May 2019
Irish Waltz 3-2-1
Today we welcomed a new member,
David Asquith, who was awarded a temporary handicap of 28. This served him
well as his team finished in the money.
However, the real story of the
day was that there were two holes in one, scored on the 9th by Brian
Marsh and Rod Young. What an introduction to seniors golf for David – it
doesn’t happen every week.
Anything else I might say pales
into insignificance compared to these two tremendous shots, even our Pro had
not come across two 1’s in a single competition. However, I failed to get a photograph
of these two fine golfers.
These shots both scored 5
stableford points and propelled their respective teams onto the podium. However,
unlike birdies it was decided not to share the money with their team mates and
each player will receive £9.00, being half of the birdie pool.

A turnout of 36 was very encouraging, bearing in mind that 12 of our number were playing in a match today. It has been a very busy week for the Seniors.
I bumped into Fred Oliver the other day. He has moved house to
Lyme Regis and has decided not to renew his membership. Fred has been a member
of the club for more than 40 years and the decision to move was not taken
lightly. We wish him well.
