Easter Monday - Mates Day
Another splendid day to finish the Easter Holiday and a casual Mates day. Not many out early , few Eggs and I think 4 early Birds.
26 Rolled up for the 08:45 Roll Call and farmer Bob was in firm Control , with Vice-Captain James keeping us all in order with though for the day, a couple of jokes and some organisational work for Wednesdays Challenge Cup.
I see Stuart's list for the Guide Dog Charity day has some 22 names now, with the loss of Ashley Wood and the Outcasts -Just need CST teams selected
Bob had to keep his options open for the format today as numbers kept changing, but popular vote was for a 3-ball Texas Scramble , with just 4 Drives and 1/6th handicap.
There were a few more other people about today in Societies etc, but certainly not busy. Jim MacDonald was up playing his Summer KO against Alistair Purcell ( another 2 that had not met before) - and by the 11th Jim was striding along looking every bit the winner - so we await the result.
Think we lost another pair from the Challenge Cup today, with John MacOmish and Dickie hall dropping out. Concensus seems to be that it will be a wet day - oh Dear !
Now a confessssion - as I got back into my Car to drive home , I opened both front windows to dissipate the 25 Degree heat and as I powered past Cricket St Thomas Hotel entrance the Results sheet flew out of the window and into their field. So I only have the winning scores as Bob kept the Cards for perusal.
Not sure why, as the conditions were nigh perfect and the ball running a mile - but no-one managed to get into the 50's and both winning teams had 61.833 so Bob & the Vice decided to award them joint first with £4 Each Player - a 400% return on their stake.
Ian Fielder/ Rob Laverton/ Mick Aldridge £4.00 Each
Mac Everett/ Colin Ireland / Mark Barry £4.00 Each
Well done to Bim & Dickie for battling away in a 2-ball.
