Wednesday 5th December
2-ball Texas Scramble...sort of !

NB- Course was open for Club Buggies ( Front 9) and for Seniors Buggies on whole course at their own risk. Please do not abuse this and stick to barriers, special paths  and notices put out by Green Keepers who are trying to protect the Course for the Winter...they are watching us !

Not many ventured out today, no early players and only 14 players at 9 am. The competition was initially scheduled to be a three ball Texas Scramble but to accommodate everyone was altered to a two ball Texas with a corresponding adjustment of the team handicap and the

number of required individual drives.

The weather forecast predicted early showers/rain clearing by midday.

In fact it was clear till 10.00 ish and then the heavens opened.

None of the teams wanted to wimp it and be the first to call it a day and go in, so everyone finished their round despite being soaked.

Some later greens had become flooded but the biggest problem was that Bob was unable to read the soggy cards that were returned.
By consensus, the late decision then was to cancel the competition and give the entry money to my Charity. That is generous, however,  I do feel sorry for my playing partner, Bill Pratt, who steered our team to a nett score of 68, which was some way ahead of the rest of the field!!
I do hope the weather improves for the Turkey Trot on Friday.
Please remember to pay your entry fee of £2.50 in the bar before play.

Peter Spencer- Farr  Seniors Capt.

We knew George W, Roger & Ian G were on the course early, but they were just playing a friendly, with Captain George predicting they would just do 9 holes and then scarper....how right he was....

But were were all feeling clever as the first hour or so was very mild and Bert & Farmer Bob were doing rather well as they strolled up the 6th...
..but 3 hours later..Bob was on his knees trying to write on a soggy piece of cardboard..

luckily Robin had just worn an old shiny track-suit

What a generous Captain and his new 'Best Mate' Bill Pratt.
