1 Nov Roll Up Report
4 BBB Stableford 90% Full Handicap
Today 48
Seniors played the 4BBB
competition and one other played the
November Rolling Stableford. Although today we were playing in 4 Balls the
average round took 4Hrs 10 Minutes. I cannot understand how a 3 Ball Hassle can
take as long as it did on Monday, maybe players were taking too long finding
balls and also not thinking ahead as to which ball to select ? Food for thought Gentlemen.
There were 13 birdies today paying £1.80 per Birdie
,therefore giving £0.90p per birdie per
player.

Gentlmen, it has
been reported to me that quite a few Seniors do not realise that during times
when Winter Rules are in operation, before you lift to clean your ball on the
Fairway , It MUST
BE MARKED FIRST. There is a full explanation iaw the
Rules (Page 143 Appendix 1 Prefered Lies
and Winter Rules) Please be careful ,Read the article in the Rules of Golf
Book.
November Rolling Stableford: Eric Williams 29pts.
WINTER LEAGUE:
When playing in
the Winter League Rounds, the Entry money on each occasion will be collected in
the Pro’s Shop.
On the First Round
there is the following charge, £2
entry fee (one off payment, per Team) plus the £1.50 per player. There is a
charge of £1.50 per player on the occasion of each subsequent Round.
All other players not involved in the Winter League,
there will be a normal roll up and entry money will be collected in the normal
manner in the Sports Bar.
REMINDER : The old £1 coins are no longer legal
tender. PLEASE do not pass them at the
Roll Ups. Thank You.

First a post from Roger via a respected Member.
Had an incident today where someone who has played for a
number of years did not know he had to mark before lifting and cleaning ball on
fairway. Back in the clubhouse this was mentioned only for
another member to state that he sees a large number of Seniors not bothering to
mark the spot. Would it be possible to put on blog !!!
· You MUST mark the position of the ball before
lifting, cleaning and placing – failure to do so leads to a one-stroke penalty.
· Typically, you only get one chance at placing
the ball and once you let go of it, it is in play. However, if the ball fails
to come to rest at all on the spot you have carefully chosen, you may try again
on that spot and if it still fails to come to rest “place it at the nearest
spot where it can be placed at rest that is not nearer the hole and not in a
hazard.” But be warned, if you place it on the most inviting tuft and it does
initially come to rest, but then falls off or moves before you play, there is
no penalty but you must now play it as it lies. In such circumstances, if you
pick your ball up and place it again, you will incur a penalty stroke for
moving your ball in play and must replace the ball under Rule 18-2a – i.e. put
it back in the spot where it had rolled or moved to.
Nobby was out with Farmer Bob , bringing him down to Earth after being Top Scorer at Minehead ( with Frankie). Bob was on Green for 3 on 8th and Nobby put his approach 20 feet past. Bob got the 4 and was just about to tell Nobby "I Don't get a Shot Here....", when Nobby casually walked up to his ball, flicked at it with his putter, thinking he couldn't improve the score and his ball sped down the hill and dropped into the hole....stopping Bob mid-sentence.
Earlier Nobby had won the Richard Hall Monthly Raffle ( Bottle of Scotch), with Andy King taking the 2nd Prize.

And yet another apology from JKP having to retract comments from Monday about Grumpy Players in Hassle . He was firmly told today that the team were not grumpy about the 60% Lowest Handicaps and they played a very enjoyable round. Secondly it is unfair to abuse the Blog ,and make such comments when Seniors have no way of defending themselves. Thirdly a solution to the Hassle problem will be brought up at the AGM.
So Apologies to all those affected, although names were never mentioned.
Bert Robinson was, however, named when Chard Museum drew their annual raffle today and were very appreciative of the support from Seniors. Bert has won a £20 Voucher for Dinner at a Chard Restaurant.
