Early drizzle soon faded and the forecast 50 mph winds never quite materialised to make a pleasant day for Golf. 27 Rolled up and a further 12 were in the Match. Pick of the Three-balls looked to be Markby & co as Norman on 11 was the High Handicapper - but the converse was he got no shots with the Yellow ball on 16,17 & 18. 4 of the yellow Balls were never to be seen again. The England Team looked tasty, with Danny & Bim, but just fell a few short. Out in front once more were Richard, leading Nick & Mick to a good 104 points and also a rare birdy.
Stuart was Captain against the Taunton & Pickerage Team - but got stuffed in his Match 6&5, despite having one of our best Matchplay Players alongside him. Despite this record loss, he still made Harry Potter collect the Dinner Money for his 6&5 Loss. Farmer Bob came in with a Win, followed by Roger Stone - but alas Barrie Heath was finally defeated, along with JC who also lost narrowly, so the Match fell 4-2 against us. T&P were, however extremely impressed with all the changes.
Even as we sat there the new fencing was being erected around the 360 Degrees of the Machinery shed. The Buggy Store now has a roof on and there will be space for Members buggies if required. The Roof for the Driving Range is being dismantled ready for shipping to CST to be installed here.
Steve, the new Restaurant Manager, who has joined us from Cricket St Thomas Hotel, looked after us in the Dining Room where an excellent Salad Buffet was enjoyed followed by Tiramisu & Coffee.
Thanks to Mick Aldridge for compiling all the Roll-Up results below.
