Latest Update on Frome Golf Club
Next time you pause to have a moan about our beloved CST Golf Club, spare a thought for Frome below who have now entered their final phase of existence.
I was up at CST yesterday with my Grandson who hasn't been up for 8 months, his mouth was agape the whole time with what has happened. 'what's that tent ?' was his first question, as he gazed at the fleet of buggies and Machinery Shed. We had a burger in the Sports bar, which was heaving with Marauders on one side and the refined clientele of the Rotary Club on the other. We played Pool, then Darts, had a bucket of Balls on the range (shortly to be all covered) and then popped around the academy course. I signed him up for the Junior Summer School on August 10-14th (Which is cheapest Childcare in Town, by the Way)- with another one available on 24th-28th.
Talking about the 9-hole 'pitch & putt' - there is a grand opening on August 28th with a Fish & Chip Supper - sound like a fun evening..book bookings are highly recommended at it is expected to sell out fast.
Frome Golf Club
I'm afraid to say that the glimmer of hope has been extinguished. The
prospective manager (who was apparently leasing the course from the new owner)
has been unable to secure funding and has returned to his old job. Greenkeeping
staff are leaving and closure on 30 September now looms.
We've had our hopes raised and dashed and members of the seniors have already
started moving out. So thanks for your patience with us and all the very best
for the future to you and your club.
