2nd 3rd & 4th place was done on count back

Interesting last Wed in 4BBB, playing 10th.

Nick was waiting to putt, when Derek 'chipped-in from the back of the green. Ball was at rest against pin and a nice Birdy.

I said to Nick, maybe you should deal with Derek's ball as the wind might blow and flick  ball out, or you could hit it and do the same.

back at 19th I asked the 'Oracle'   CG- and with a furrowed brow, replied with a very long 'weeeelllll.....

He said the ball no longer has to hit the bottom of the hole, but some part of the ball must be below the level of the green when it is at rest.

I then did the usual Internet thing and it showed some interesting videos. One showed a leaning pin, that was holding the ball against the edge but with no part below ground. If you moved that pin and the ball fell in - you'd have to pick it out and tap it back in for an extra stroke.

I'm sure it won't happen at Roll-Up - but maybe we should be aware when playing at these posh places in Avalon, KHKO etc - to get someone to agree ball is in the hole before casually flicking it out to save our aged backs.

..or have I got it all wrong again ?

Captain wants to update Roll-Up Cards due to all the lovely new Members we have had recently, replaced faded stars like Farmer Bob, correct mistakes etc - if you know of any that require renewing please let us know. We have to print in sheets of 12's so adding a few here and there does not alter cost much.

KHKO RESULT FROM HOCKLEY.

An excellent golf course and a friendly welcome was found on arrival.   Wide fairways but deep rough if you strayed.  Huge greens but they proved difficult to hold the ball on, then slopes and undulations plus being very quick tested our short games.   There were several very close matches and the final score may just have flattered our hosts. We were all receiving shots and four of our ten were capped down to seventeen.  So the 7~3 score was a fine effort with Messrs. Mugridge, Wandless and Jewell earning the points for CST.

So another run was halted but everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day.
