Wednesday 21st June 2023

I've been moaning about getting low on Callaways until Monday when Sun was shining down through Club tubes and could see balls at the bottom. Got home today and found torn lining allowing items to drop into void where rain drips from wet clubs etc . How many balls was I humping around...nearly 4Kg ...or...96 balls, tee pegs, pens, markers , gloves, banana skins, champagne corks, old caviar tins..see picture...

I'm sure there are those that have viewed the analytics of yesterday's medal, but did you spot the score of 13 on hole 5.

The anonymous golfer described how it transpired.

  • Nice Drive
    • but off Yellow Tee
    • 2 Shot Penalty & must play off correct (white) Tee
  • Shot 3 Replay Drive
    • Oops OOB right, into field
  • Shot 5 - Replay Drive
    • Low and left through hedge into brambles
    • Found ball, unplayable, took penalty drop
  • Shot 7- Overaggressive, into tress left..just missed Walgrove
  • Shot 8 - dyfed, still on tree
  • Shot 9 up fairway
  • Shot 10 - Short & right of Green
  • Shot 11 - Chipped onto Green - 14 foot downhill putt
  • Shot 12 - Close, but not quite finished.
  • Shot 13 - Hole Complete

If you play from the wrong tee, the strokes that you have played from the wrong tee, or continuing with play of that ball, do not count, but you have a 2 stroke penalty and must start the hole again playing from the correct tee. . In a stroke-play competition, you’d get two penalty strokes  and would need to correct the mistake before starting another hole or be disqualified.

Great to see George Willerton up there. He was with his Daughter as he shook JKP Hands, and said to her "He hasn't changed a bit has he ?" - to which she politely replied "I don't know Dad, I've never been here before.   Great to see George who was an 8 handicap when I first joined. Ex Paratrooper and tough as old boots - but an Officer & Gentleman of the highest order. Not been up for several Years, as his memory fades.
