 Cyder Cup Round 1 4BBB

A farewell from Raymond...

John, could you please put on blog, I have had to stop playing golf due to health problems, and I would like to thank all the friends that I have made over the years.

 Regards Ray Gudge

We are aware many of you will not know Ray, but he has been a stalwart of CST, Formally Windwhistle,  for over 50 Years, having served as Club Captain on 2 Occasions.

A stickler for things being done correctly, expert on the Rules of Golf and lately of course is often seen over by the 6th Green where he maintains a food supply for many of the birds we see around the course.

Our own BirdMan of Cricket.

Ray contributed generously to Seniors Charities and was often able to get his hands on Vouchers from the Brewery through his lifetime of working in the trade.

An avid reader of the Blog...we've have many notes from Raymond over the years when things were not quite right...had to believe, but yes, we do get it wrong sometimes.

Great to have 3 more for Wednesday Foursomes - phone Captain or any of us if you can play - It's all for Charity and who knows..you might even enjoy it...07810 880530..Draw will be done shortly...

Watch Out for new Rules on Wednesday - Tuesday 13th - Course Open - Buggies Allowed - Bunkers on 8/9/10/11 are G.U.R - Preferred Lies are now in place.

**** Preferred Lies does not mean saying "I got a three" - when you plainly took Five,  That would be "Proffered Lies"...

Captain's Report

With all the pre-match hype, the event lived up to the desired expectation in a tight match between Captain’s & Vice Captain’s select. V C’s team lead by 2 points largely thanks to V C’s antics with  team selection. He will be paying back in the next event on Wednesday as it is my turn to tweak the Matches. Just like everyone I saw from both teams blaming one thing or another for their demise, I personally blame the luck Gods for losing our (myself & Edmondo) game to Mark & JKP. Everything that could have, should have  gone wrong went right for the opposition. Hitting tree after tree and ending up in play, instead of ball ending 40 yards at the back of green, why not hit the pin and stop an inch from the hole. Blaming aside we really had a very close fought game with some really good recovery shots from Mark to win 3 holes in a row to end with 1 UP after 18.

Some eye-catching scores from Roger Stone & David Asquith winning their game against Peter Spencer-Far & John MacOmish by 5&4 which was matched by Martin Leigh & Richard Dine winning their match against Bryan Frost & Nobby Hodder.

Round 2 which is a foursomes format is to be played on Wednesday and so far we have 38 signed in. We need two more to make it a 10 team challenge. If you are interested in participating, please message or email myself or John Pearce so that we can add to the list

As regards to Friday’s singles matches, we already have 48 entries and are unable to accommodate any more unless some pull out. If you are interested, then let us know so that we can put you in reserves list.

It really was miserable at the end..but 14:30 by the time the last 4Ball arrived

Well done to all those that followed orders and sported Team Colours..Dickie was resplendent as usual but most was covered by Rain-Gear

Neil Cochran was doing the damage, but with Gordon Brent they are a tricky pait to defeat.

He supplied all 4 Players and it was much appreciated...

Knobbly-Knees weren't on view for too long...

Billy fell at Beecher's Brook again...as this pair that have won so much in the past, were swept away by Martin & Eric.
