3 MAN BOWMAKER FRIDAY 9th OCTOBER

FRIDAY 9th OCTOBER 2020

 3 MAN BOWMAKER

15 teams possibly struggled with the format, or was it the golf course, with only four teams in the 70’s.    The greens although cut appeared to be not mown as closely as normal, they were immaculate but the grass covering made them slower than recently and possibly not consistent.    The first six holes as always were important even though it was just one to count.    Many a card was ruined by  these early holes.    It may be coincidence but the first four teams finished in the order that they scored over those holes.    We may perceive that the finishing holes with three to count are critical but maybe not.

Thanks to Andrew Campbell who casually strolled up and found himself in the winning Team as Jim Carrick pulled out, what a lovely chap he is. Similarly Chris Gingell who responded to a late WhatsApp request and covered for Frosty 2-wheels.Once again thanks to JW for sorting the teams and posting and you all for turning up on time, even though it may have been earlier or later than your 'Norm'.

As we await Boris's big announcement on Monday, with nearly 400,000 new cases yesterday Worldwide, something has to happen to enact a change, although down here in Somerset we are doing very nicely thank you. We are being kept well in control by Lisa, Penny, Katie & Ryan and are now trained at signing-in, mask wearing, staying seated, card handling, hand-sanitizing, minimizing interaction  etc - it is no accident that we are keeping CST Virus Free and the Management should be congratulated.  We sure do appreciated the privilege we have in these nasty times.

There were just two 2’s each paying £3.75 each team member, the thanks can go to Roger Withers on the 2nd and Martin Bargery on the 16th.     Both fine efforts with the reasonably strong crosswinds on these holes.

We now look forward to the Cyder Cup and Monday’s 4BB, please see the blog for partners; opponents and start times.    If you are in the Captains team please wear RED and the Vice Captains team to adorn BLUE attire.   Best of luck to all competing and may the better looking team win, sorry I meant best team.

Mark Cording
Vice Captain (in the absence of the Captain, is it coincidental that his term is about to end, hopefully he is running out of steam just in time for the Cyder Cup).
