What a day to play golf!!

Rain falling heavily, the main greens being aeriated and sanded leaving rough unprepared winter greens for putting -  didn’t stop 21 mad Seniors opting to play.

With only one score to count it was going to be some high scores as it proved to be the case. With space invader Bryan Frost on his moon craft enjoying his ride for 6 holes until he decided to abandon the game as he was getting wetter & wetterer as some in Somerset would say , leaving his two playing partners with a good excuse to justify their bad score and blame poor old Bryan for their demise.

There was an issue with the winning card which Bob & Roger were encouraging me to have the bottle to disqualify as allegedly one of the team members had taken the card to amend their scores after handing their card in. Having rechecked the card myself I decided to let the card be counted as one change made did not make any difference to the overall score. Thinking that there may not be any 2’s on the day and birdies might come into play, they had changed the score from 5 for 3 points to 3 for 3 points.

There were two 2’s paying £1.75 to each team members

Here are today’s scores

A successful session organised by the Captain as around 30 risked the weather and were sent out in 3 Early teams, then 3 Middle teams, then 3 late teams - all seemed to work very well as  Penny kept strict control in the Marquee and ensured we were all seated.

Reminder - the next 3 playing days are all organised and available for you to join us.

Friday is the scramble and 47 49 54  are currently signed up - Draw will be made tomorrow, so tarry not  - weather forecast is very good but Course maintenance will take priority once more.

Monday is a 4BBB - just sign up Individually and Draw will be made Sat/Sun - 16 21 34 have currently signed up - see Diary page.

Wed (30th) -Monthly Medal - Sign up on-line.

Very busy in the Marquee as we finished with the wake for a local Ilminster Sportsman being held - as the Mourners were all dressed in football strips - Chelsea figuring heavily as the deceased had asked for this regalia - but anything in Red was banned.

As planned Greens team were all over the Course drilling and speading with temporaries gradually taking over..but as it was our first use of them this year, they sure took some getting used to....

To win in this format, you will always need a High-Handicapper to come in with a few 3 & 4 point holes - This Teams 50 Points was pretty impressive averaging 2.77 per hole.

Bob, Peter & Mike...came close with 23 points in each half

Roger nursed his Team to 23 point front 9,  he was first one to master the speed of the temporaries..."just hit the flipping thing "

lost ground on 16th as all three well shorts..then a single point on 18th was the final curtain...

Fleeting appearance by the Chicken Farmer as his usual trio opted not to play in the rain.
