Challenge Cup Round II

Super Seniors Cup

As you are aware we had some issues relating to the outcome of its result. The event was won by Stuart Pope  (42 points & £13.50) with Bob Barrow (40 points & £8.10) and Mick Aldridge (39 points & £5.40) finishing 2nd and 3rd. Well done guys. Winners trophy will be awarded on AGM meeting in November Covid permitting.

There was only one birdie by Stuart Pope winning him £9.00

.....as this picture of John Pearce shows.....he drove straight home and into a cold shower...

it was 33 Degrees as they passed the 12th...

On a day that we should have been on the beach instead of on the golf course we had 58 seniors turning up for round 2 of Challenge Cup. Some impressive scores bar one and that was yours truly.

With the recent exchanges of resignation threats, emails and messages flying around I wasn’t sure if I was going to participate as I wasn’t in the right frame of mind. Matters became worse as words were said on the course. I am not using this as an excuse because I had a lousy round, but just to bring to people’s attention that we are Professional golfers and we are not going to lose a fortune as a result of an outcome going one way or the other. We are not kids and we better not act like them. To be honest I seriously considered my position and would have resigned my post if it wasn’t due to the fact I only have a couple of more months left of my duty, not to mention that it would have been a childish act too.

Today’s games was dominated by the usual suspects and it seems no matter how many cuts these people get, they keep performing to their new handicaps. That is a good thing as the quality of players we are going to have post Covid times will help us to win more friendly matches. Please Keep it going guys.

Meanwhile , away from their keyboards typing Emails to the Captain, others were contributing in a more practical way and restoring the starter hut. This may be the last time it can be done as both the floor and roof were pretty rotten.

Plenty of complimentary comments about the re-designed flags & holes using the 15mm pipe insulation - no complaints about balls doing 360 degree spins and coming back out again...certainly Dave Mugridge gives them his seal of approval.

just the Clock to finish , which Norman has taken home...

Pretty busy around the course with Danny practicing ( believe he retired injured yesterday) - and lots of Ladies enjoying the heat...we were pleased to see some familiar faces back up there..

Dave , Alan, Paul and Richard - 3 pars and 1 NR - how the simplest of holes can catch us out.
