Captain's Report

I am sure you all agree with me that Mark did an excellent job of organising our first proper rollup since the lockdown. Thanks for that Mark. Expression on the faces of the participants was indicative of a pleasant happy day. Hopefully we will have more of the same in the coming days and weeks.

& we know how Mark loves to get up early...he's even worse than me !

For the club to carry on with this setup, they will need to justify having 2 or 3 employees being at work by making enough money to cover their costs. The feedback I had was good, but it can be better. So spending a little money buying tees, coffees and breakfast will help us to have the programme going.

Good news on food & drinks purchased during the month of August. As of 3rd of August all food and non-alcoholic drinks will be half price. It is a government scheme that is put in place to encourage people using cafes and restaurants by paying 50% of the bill.

Points raised by staff for consideration:

Keep social distancing in place and at least 2 metres apart. Apparently the early starters(20) were gathered at the first tee.

Enter the Marquee from the front entrance and exit via the side.

Do not move from Table to Table... 2 per Table inside, 4 per Table outside.

...all crimes committed by Mr Pearce.....

News for August & September events

We have planned to fit in all the missed trophy events during the months of August & September.

The rollup programme will be published on the blog in due course. Once published, check the events you want to participate and register your interest. We shall make information available on the method of entry soon. It will be a mixture of direct entry and putting your name down on a list.

Now back to yesterday’s event. We had 44 participants in a well organised 4BBB event with some very good scores. I personally was both mesmerised and scammed by our opponent’s display of golfing skills. I won’t say anything about the scam but it was pleasure watching Danny and Chris take turn to demoralise our team. Well played guys even though there was another team on the course that bettered your score.

There were three 2’s by John Wandless/ Nobby Hodder, Bob Barrow & Steve Holt and Nick Hill & Dickie Hall earning £3.66 each

Here are the top 6 teams of the day with prize money allocated to the top 4 only

1.       Mark Cording & Mike Hone         48         £10.00 each

2.       Danny Dowell & Chris Gingell      47         £  6.00 each

3.       John Wandless & Nobby Hodder  46           £  4.00 each

4.       Andy Rowland & Roger Withers   46          £  2.00 each

5.       Bob Barrow & Steve Holt                44

6.       Roger Hinds & John Pearce            44

Have a good weekend

Nick returns after recovering from his aches & pains to see a rather different RollUp
16 earlies had already departed as 09:06 Roll Up heads to Tee - with everyone out before 10:00

..another Birdie....only a true bandit will beat us today Dan !

You called ?
what a front 9 fromMark & Mike..but Hinds & Pearce gave them a run for a money on the back 9, with  24 points including a 20 foot putt by JKP on 18th for a welcome 4-points..Roger was straight as a dye all day...

Lisa & her Team had been brilliant all day, from07:30 with copious supplies of Breakfast baps & drinks, right through to the 19th where many stayed for a wee refresher and Pearce was told-off 13 times for leaving his seat and wandering around...guilty as charged.

Farmer Bob announces the Results, 48,46, 45 etc and slips in that his Team had one of the three 2's made today....

From JKP - what a great day and well done to the organisers as the crack gradually re-appears, just a pity that one or two are not yet playing the game !!
We saw several groups playing with people they had barely met before,
Alan Chance with Gordon Brent; Jeremy with Ken, David with Derek; Sweetie with Jerry; Roger W with Andy Rowland; Albie with Lyndsey- all great stuff for out Section.
