Wednesday
18th March 2 from 3 Stableford fun golf fun report
We have for the time being
cancelled all the scheduled rollup events instead we turn up and make teams up
and play for fun. That is what we did yesterday. So I suggest that we stick to
this format until the situation improves. Communications to and from other
clubs have been similar and all the scheduled interclub matches have been
cancelled until further notice.
Today we had some early birds turn up and
play individual stableford and the late group playing 2 from 3 stableford
(Birthday format*) for fun. However Frank who seems to have made is money by
winning golf matches had a side bet with the team behind us which of course we
won. Apparently this agreement was between Frank on our side and Peter and John
without Bob’s knowledge at least what he claimed. Peter being an honourable
chap paid Frank, Bob with reluctance tried to pay me which I declined to take
the old man’s money and John who did a runner and Pope sent the bailiffs to
collect his money (£2 plus £1 interest and £80 bailiff’s fee).

In the next few Days every
thing will be done in the Marquee, allowing better separation.
The Game was a simple 2 from 3, with 1-foot putts being conceded to minimize having to stick your mitt into the water each time.
Roger made sure everyone kept well apart
Earlies also displayed excellent discipline
and we gave them plenty of room...
David was ready for us...
We asked them what they were playing and Phil replied 'Individual Stableford'
I said , "That's not very Imaginative...."
& Phil responded " It took us half-an-hour to come up with that !"
Nice to see the Buggy Boys getting a game at last, but I think Mick would have sooner have been on the Beach in Tenerife with Marie..where they should have been today .
Dickie keeping even further apart
with a score of 84, could anyone Match them.....
Although very tongue-in-cheek, we must continue to make it safe for us all to play by being sensible and we can have fun too, it was so good to get out there and play , compared to what others are having to put up with all around the world.
Norman has been in touch with Teignmouth and will try to arrange a date in the future when life returns to normal. For those who have paid, your money will be refunded.
The next round at Dainton Park is cancelled and at the moment it is unlikely that Came Down will go ahead either. I will try and rearrange all three challenge cup away days for later in the year but this may prove difficult with our already full calendar and other matches etc which may be postponed. Norman Markby
Farmer Bob came up with an hygienic idea for the next draw ( yes it's hard to believe).
As we arrive write your name on the back of a raffle ticket and chuck into a 'hat' - & from that we do the draw and then dispose of the tickets. We have plenty of old raffle books in the Filing Cabinet.
Talking about Draws - Dickie did his March Draw with another 100 + tickets sold.
Eric Smallwood won a nice bottle of Irish Whiskey
Derek Gardener won a Year's Supply of Guinness....
...for an ant that is.
Call Dickie Hall on 62948 and he will arrange delivery. He is self-isolating to protect Jenny.
