CORONAVIRUS UPDATE - TUESDAY 17TH MARCH

With the situation ever evolving I thought it would be prudent to update you and also answer a few questions which have been raised by members. We are in unprecedented territory and the challenges seem to increase on a daily basis for us all. As a golf club we have a duty of care to our staff, members and of course the wider community and hence will try to act accordingly over the coming weeks/months. We also face the very stark challenge which many businesses will also be facing of balancing the books during this period.
A few key points to outline briefly:
  • We are closely monitoring and following the advice of both the Government website and Public Health England. This will of course guide us on the way forward.
  • All staff have been briefed on the current protocol and we will continue to follow this.
  • Any staff showing any symptoms will be self-isolating.
  • We do not anticipate closing the golf course. Golf is an outdoor sport and currently there is no advice to close the course or classification of it as a social gathering or meeting point. We have a detailed action plan for our green staff to keep the course open during this time.
  • If you are not self-isolating and choose to continue to play please practice some sensible measures. Maintain social distancing, avoiding contact and customary handshakes.
  • We are looking to close Little Acorns from Wednesday 18th March. Last day of opening being Tuesday 17th March.
  • From Thursday 19th March we are only serving food until 3pm and closing the bar and course at 6pm every day. With the exception of Mother’s Day, which will run as originally planned.
  • From Monday 23rd March we are looking to operate the Bar, Restaurant, Kitchen and Pro Shop from the Marquee which gives us adequate space to spread the tables and respect the 6 feet social distancing recommendations. We will continue to monitor the situation depending on government advice and staff availability.
As much as we would like to be in a position to help, the golf club is unable to offer any delays to membership renewal. We of course understand that members and in particular over 70’s may have some concerns due to a possible period of interruption to their golf. That said we would ask that members consider the bigger picture with regards to their golf membership. Many members have benefited from the investment at CST in recent years and enjoyed years of almost unbroken golf unlike other courses. The golf club plays a key part in many of your lives so please help us to protect it when we return to normal life.
If you have any further questions please let us know. We will continue to update you if and when the situation changes.
We look forward to your continued support and hopefully brighter days ahead.
