Friday 15th November 3 Man Texas Scramble
On a very cold and outcast day 36 seniors turned up to play in today’s 3 man scramble. Considering the weather there were some good scores. As it was voted at the AGM that we should not send out a 4 ball in the middle of the two groups, two from the early starters chose to play rolling Stableford instead of joining the late groups. If it wasn’t because of Roger Davis volunteering to go with the early group, then we would have had 4 from the early group playing rolling Stableford. This left the late group with an extra person ( Bert Robinson) who decided that he rather go home than play the alternative. Thank you Bert.
I was informed that Bob Rees had decided to change his name to Bob Putter as he was allegedly sinking putts from anywhere on and off the green. Another notable story of the day was when my playing partners through the play kept reminding me that all but one of my drive holes was bogy or double bogy. I got them back when they had bogies of themselves on the last two holes.
Back to the competition, the winners on the day were as follows
Bob the Putter, David Mugridge and Barrie Heath 60.33 £5.00 each
Mark Cording, Maurice Arnold, Mike Aldridge 61.84 £3.50 each
Gordon Brent, Ian Griffiths, Ian Frost 62.20 £2.50 each
