Rollup Report 20th Sept- Texas Scramble

Rollup Report Friday 20th September 2019

3 Man Texas Scramble

Match Report:- Long Sutton G.C

Getting near to the end of this years fixtures with only four more scheduled, two home and two away

and we continue to extent our winning ratio. This time was a comprehensive demolition of Long Sutton G.C.

by the margin of Five to One. One pairing lost in the interests of keeping it a friendly match !?! It was a shame

that our visitors did not see the course in its recent glory as the greens were sandy and bumpy from

the recent maintenance. However it was the same for both teams and they were still complementary about

all aspects of the day.

For the record

Peter Spencer-Farr/ Nobby Hodder Lost 2 Down

Mark Cording/ John MacOmish Won 4 & 3

Derek Gardener/ Lyndsey Gage Won 2 Up

Dave Mugridge/ Richard Dines Won 5 & 3

Edmundo Paoloni/ Ian Housham Won 1 Up

Frank Martin/ Roger Davis Won 2 Up.

Dave Mugridge again won the wine for the Home nearest the pin and is building a wine cellar

to accommodate all this years spoils.

In October we play Enmore G.C. both home and away. Enmore historically ask for eight pairings if

we can raise enough players. Names on the Entry Sheets please, all new players are always very welcome.

Peter Spencer-Farr Seniors Capt.

The Seniors Captain was playing in a match against Long Sutton; the Vice is in the U.S. and your usual deputy is involved in a secret handshake meeting. So today, reporting has fallen to the deputy, stand in, temporary Treasurer.

Much to the relief of everyone, we were back on the main greens, after a couple of rollups on temporaries.

When the late draw was made, there was an audible gasp when the formidable trio of Dowell, White and Chance were drawn together. Fortunately, none of the earlier starters were aware of this and therefore not being overawed, proceeded to score rather better than the later groups.

The team of Ian Frost, Jerry Stephens and Tony Stenhouse came first, with Sid Crisp, Mike King, and Ron Sutherland missing out by 0.82 (a five on the 19th costing them the win).

There were 2 two’s each paying £7.50 per team.
