Report from Invitation Day Tuesday 6th
We had a really disappointing entry for this years Invitational, reasons for which I do not fully

understand. Lots of theories, £40 cost per pair too much, food element not required,

very few have friends,

better ball wrong format,

Tuesday wrong day as we all ready play enough golf,
clashing with a lot of

other things, league matches, friendlies etc.

I do know however that it was good fun and it would be a

great shame to lose it off the calendar, perhaps a rethink for next year is required.

We did have an entry of twelve pairs however with members from seven other clubs joining us on the day

all of whom were very complimentary of everything we have to offer here at Cricket.

We were very lucky with the weather and the predicted heavy showers kept away until we were

all safely back in the clubhouse.

All teams scored over 30 points with last years winners Mike King and Tony Chedzoy ( Burnham & Barrow)

prevailing again with 42 points. They narrowly defeated, 42 on countback, Robin Flower and Bryn Jones

( Burnham &Barrow). Third place with 40 points was myself and guest Ian Gale (Maidenhead) who won the

longest drive because he came from Windsor! Winners of the wine for nearest the pin on 16 was Team Clarke, Nick Clarke and our old friend John Twose. Do see John quite often since he left us, I hope one day he might come back to us.

..and back to the Roll-Up....

Thirty nine Seniors played today in a Bowmaker Competition and thankfully most managed to complete their round in the dry.
Three scores to count on the first six holes catches teams out and usually

decides early on which groups end in top spots. However looking at today's breakdown Messrs Sanders, Miles and Smith got off to a great start of 34 in the first six only to fall away towards the end.

Please see attached to see where your team slipped up and congratulations to Bert Robinson, Mick Aldridge and Ian Fielder for winning with an excellent total of 79 points.

...
..but not a great start as both Ian & Mick were clambering over the fence on the 1st...

This Friday is the Seniors Championship and unfortunately the weather forecast is poor, please be aware that we may have to postpone the day but will make the decision on that morning.
