Battle of Britain Individual Stableford
Glorious
day for the Battle of Britain Trophy, all we needed was a flyby from a few
Spitfires to
make
it a great event. You could almost imagine diving out of the sun onto those
Fockers!
Sixty
one Seniors took part and because of the excellent conditions, I for one,
thought that the
winning
score would be in the high forties. As it panned out 41 points saw John
Wandless with a
very
solid performance playing off a handicap of twelve take the cup with only five
players registering
stableford
scores over the 36 points standard.
Full
results are on the Club Web page but big congratulations to the following:-
John
Wandless Champion 41 points
2nd
Andy Beale 39 points
3rd
Mark Sanders 38 points
4th
Dave Taylor (on countback) 38 points
David
very close again, feel sure your winning day is not far away!
5th
Maurice Arnold 37 points.
To
be honest I did not know that by tradition this was a charitable competition
where the entry money
is
given to charity. That said, I am very delighted to announce that, on your
behalf, we have presented
to
Brian Rideout on behalf of the Royal Air Force Association a cheque for £122.
Lets just remember
how
much we owe to those brave men and women who against all odds protected the
freedom we all
enjoyed
today.
The
Two's were a separate competition and there were three recorded, so well done
to
Andy
Beale (9th), Gordon Brent (2nd) and Nobby Hodder (9th) who each receive £10.
A
little bit more money to award is for July's Rolling Stableford, sorry for late
notification
but
congrats to Chris Andrews 38 points £6.00 and Stewart Forbes 31 points £3.00.
Soon
up is the Monthly Stableford on Friday 23rd so rest up for the next challenge.
