Summer Knockout Round 1
Firstly , relieved at the outcome of the false announcement about the cancellation of the rat pack event as Alex confirmed he had clicked the wrong box and accidentally flagged it as cancelled, so by Ted drawing it to his attention it was corrected and hopefully the outside World will resume bookings.
Team Report Jurassic Challenge at Lyme Regis
Tuesday 9th April.
2019
Very early start at Lyme with a Shotgun start at 08:45, Bacon Roll
and Registration at 07:15.
Many predicted fog for the morning and indeed our home course was
closed early on, however we had a fine,if cold start.
This was a team competition with four better-ball
pairings added together for the Jurassic Cup.
As per previous years we were allocated starting tees farthest
away from the clubhouse which involved a hike ,however , starting on the fifteen is a friendly starting hole.
Lyme have the regimented organisation of the event down to a fine
art with many non playing seniors on hand to ensure the day runs smoothly.
There was a meal, raffle and presentation after the game.
Now we come to the scores:-
1st East Devon G. C. won with the total of 176 points
( works out
to an average of 44 per BB - some score!)
2nd Honiton G. C. last years winners with 175 points
3rd Taunton and Pickeridge G. C. with 170 points.
What of Cricket St Thomas G.C. you ask
Peter Spencer-Farr/ John Twose 40
Mark Cording/ Andy
Beale
35
Roger Davis/ Martyn
Putland 38
Chris Gingell/ John MacOmish
32
Total of 145, being a bit off the pace.
Overall a great day, nice course, slick well kept greens, good
meal and a well run event, perhaps a little expensive at £40 but an enjoyable day never the less.

..meanwhile back up on Windwhistle Hill....
It was a pretty chilly day today as there was a trickle of players rolling up for the first round of the Summer Knockout Singles Matchplay.
All was organised so as a pairing arrived, they were immediately given a starting time and it flowed nicely from 08:10 through to about 09:20 when we got 11 matches completed and kept it all to 2-balls where possible. Not sure how the first group of Dickie/Sid/Albie/Ron ended up as 4-ball - which we should try to avoid in these games.
Well done to everyone for playing 'so nicely'.
Few ended up as single players as their partners we not available for various reasons, so they formed groups at the tail-end and everyone managed to get a game.
You now have a couple of weeks to complete the 12 outstanding matches so that Round 2 can be Drawn and Scheduled by Richard Forster, who returns shortly.
