SENIORS ROLL UP- Monday 29th April
2019
Two
from Three Yellow Ball Competition
"Just to let you know that
Alan had his foot operation today. He has just texted to say he has had a
meal and is watching his tv, and his room mate is also an Alan.
Maureen and Stuart Pope
kindly visited him this afternoon, Stuart had to go to the hospital too.
Bernice the dog is leading
the life of Riley at Val and Clive Fisk’s. She has a much livelier time
with them and also Sandy and Vic Pratley, that she does with us!
Rosemary Davis.
Ace reporter Ray tells us that Des Denning is finally back home after a prolonged stay in Hospital.
Everybody's favourite competition,
a two from three yellow ball was played today in fine April weather. The game
does focus minds, as to loose the yellow ball early on does make winning
virtually impossible. Tactics play a part, perhaps leaving the driver in the
bag until you are warmed up is one to consider. Two teams lost theirs with the
very first hit. Toss Smith starting on the Sixteenth found the field on the
left and Keith Branchflower donated his yellow ball to the green keepers on the
First. Many have expressed ways of minimising the pain. Ten point reduction but
having a re-load perhaps or is it just tough luck?
Ian, Roger and Martyn won with the
good score 130 including a birdie on the seventh from Roger. Full scores are
listed below:-
(Returning the Yellow ball scores an extra
5 points)

The long awaited shearing or our
Nobby is to be performed by Penny, The Barber of Serville, in the bar area
after this Wednesdays Seniors Roll up at 2pm. Everything ( above his neck) is
coming off in aid of Charity, the money for which he wants to split between
Guide Dogs for the Blind and the one really next to his heart The Beacon Cancer
Centre at Musgrove Hospital. He is nearing the fabulous total of £1000 so
please plan to stay on and witness what is really under that Birds Nest.
The Captain and committee would
like to thank Bert Robinson for his weekly press reports to the Chard and
Ilminster. Over the years, many Captains have written reports which Bert
expertly paraphrases and edits in his inimitable journalistic style. Last week,
more than a dozen Senior members featured in his report, which is excellent
publicity for the club. Thank you Bert.
Peter SF. Seniors Capt.
