Monday 28th January
Canadian Greensomes
First Hole-In-One of 2019

Chilly start today, but surprisingly not cold enough to be on the winter temporary greens. Thus 22 teams of two seniors were involved in a Canadian Greensomes competition on the full course. Scoring was tight at the top but in general scoring was modest. However , we have a star. Sixteenth, 150 yard, five iron, Srixon ball, into a stiff breeze saw Derek Gardener, after 36 years of effort, registered his first hole in one.

Well done!  By tradition Derek is awarded all the birdie money which may go in part towards the bar bill which followed. This is a strange game we play, he and his playing partner Bob Rees scored zero on hole nine but five points on sixteen. I did note Bob was first with Frank Martin in the last Canadian Greensomes, he must know something the rest of us are missing.

A number of Seniors have still to pay their annual subs. Please see the list in the Members Section on the blog, highlighted in red. Martyn and Richard fall into this category. It does seem harsh to DQ them today but they are not in the prizes and this action will focus minds going forward.
