Friday 18th January
2 from 3 Discard

Still time to join us on Friday 25th for Burns Lunch - Lots of work goes into this with Scottish Regalia, Room Décor, Address to the haggis, hand-made custom ordered Haggis from a secret Scottish location, draw for a unique collectors bottle of Scotch, Pudding etc etc...It's always a bit of fun and the Ladies love it...see how to do it properly before Gordon's event on Saturday...

The forecast for the threat of rain and high winds again reduced potential numbers but fears were unfounded as by reducing the competition to fifteen holes every one got around before the tsunami. Six earlies and twenty two later members played a 2 from 3 discard. One player short meant the dreaded Phantom Pro came out of retirement and played well enough to take first prize. Conditions were tricky however and only two birdies were recorded paying a decent £1.90 per player. Full results are listed below:-

Although use of the Phantom Pro is pretty rare these days, with weather threat and playing just 15 holes there was no option to play an individual Stableford.  Teams with a Pro can use him 3 times in each 9 holes and the Pro only ever gives you 2 points, so with a 2 from 3 discard - you have virtually no chance of winning.  In the event, John & Mark just used him 5 times - so you show me another card that didn't have at least 10 points from a single team member. Why did they win on Friday - because scores were so low from everyone else. hearing the scores from the others, most left a few out there. Shergar had the chance to win on the 18th but as he casually played one-handed to tap the ball in..he missed the ball and lost on countback. Pearce was 90 Yards from the green on 7th from the Tee...but sadly the easy iron to the green shot right and was never seen again.  Games of this format are normally won with an average of 5 points per hole. Last time we played it, Kitcher/Leigh/MacDonald were 18 Under Par...today it was won with just 8 under.so don't blame the Pro this time...we all gave it to him.

.

early Birds not happy as event changed to 15 holes..
as they were already wet

but boy did we get lucky again as Norman once more cried off...…

Eyes like a hawk were watching Roger drop on 14th...now have to do it from Knee Height

Richard proud of his Eagle 3 on 15th..but it was only a Par 5 for the purposes of the Discard !

Few faces back up that we haven't seen for a while, Terry Hackling; Stuart Forbes and of course Nobby who has been lost in Ilminster for a while and even spent some time in Hospital
