Individual Stableford All 3 to Count
As the remnants of Hurricane OPHELIA (downgraded to storm force 3) passed the golf club, 42 Seniors turned out for the Individual Stableford (all 3 to Count), and 3 others played the October Rolling Stableford.
In what were very trying conditions all players are to be congratulated not only for turning out, but all managing to complete the course. Well done everyone, I am glad we don’t have to play in such conditions every day, at times it seemed that floodlights would be required as the skies darkened and dark clouds were prominent, suggesting that we were to get rather wet whilst playing. Thankfully all stayed dry, so all we had to do was pit our wits against the storm force winds.
Whilst playing the 10th hole Bob White had played two shots, and having played his third shot ,a pitching wedge to the green, his ball was seen to take an almost 90 degree turn to the left, when we finally found his ball in the rough, on inspection it was seen that his ball was almost in two pieces, as the rules allow, he replaced his ball with another, however, that third shot was to be Bobs downfall as his game really went off the boil, so having scored 18 points on his front nine he was really disappointed to only score a meagre 10 point on his back 9 nine holes. Remember try not to let one unfortunate shot play on your mind for the remainder of your round.
This is the first time in my golfing career of 54 years that I have ever seen a ball almost split in two whilst playing a round of golf.
There were 11 Birdies paying £1.50 per birdie, £0.50p per person per Birdie
