Ted's Operation
Good morning Nick and
John,
I'm so pleased to be
able to tell you that Ted's operation was a success. It was a hell of a day
yesterday! We were greeted at 07:15 this morning with the news that there
wasn't a bed available in ICU and therefore it was doubtful Ted's op. would
take place. You've probably heard on the news that the hospitals county wide
are on Black Alert due to a shortage of beds.
Fortunately they'd
secured a bed by the afternoon and he went down to theatre at 13:30. He emerged
five hours later and was taken straight into Intensive Care. They wouldn't let
me see him until 20:30, but he's got through it and is reasonably comfortable.
He recognised me and was able to talk a little. I stayed until after ten, but
as I was just getting in the way, I decided to come home.
The next 48 hours are
crucial, so I'll be going back tomorrow, as early as possible and will stay as
long as I can. Please don't be offended if I don't return calls and emails just
yet.
We really do appreciate
all your offers of help, kind words, thoughts and prayers. Hopefully it won't
be too long before he's home and then back on the golf course.
Take care, Judith.
