Cup Round 3 – Singles 9th October 2015
Going into today’s singles,
the Vice-Captain’s team were leading 6½ - 2½. Twenty pairs went out playing
Matchplay. It was obvious looking around the course that a great deal of
concentration was being exercised. The Captain’s side started brilliantly
winning the first 3 matches. They finished well winning the final 5 matches,
but the Captain’s middle order were losing steadily, until Robin Flower on the
Vice Captains team, came in with that Christy O’Connor moment - the
all important 15th point.
The results were as follows :
4BBB 6½ - 2½
Macomish beat Skeels 4/3
Hall beat Stephens 3/1
Pope beat Marsh 3/1
Singleton lost to Gudge 3/1
Williams lost to Oliver 5/4
Willerton and Paoloni halved
Aldridge lost to Beale 3/2
Barrow beat Jones 5/4
Chance lost to Stone 2 up
Markby lost to Dobson 3/2
Potter lost to Heath 1 up
Robinson beat Pearce 3/2

Hodder lost to Flower 5/4
Hilson beat Frost 1 up
Wallis beat Fielder 4/3
Dean beat Hill 3/2
Martin beat Denning 5/4
Gage beat Hackling 2 up
So the overall result of the
singles was a win for the Captain by 11½ - 8½. But the match result was a victory for the
Vice Captain’s team 15-14.
Next Monday the rollup is
scheduled to be a 2 from 3 Yellow Ball with the low handicapper taking SI 1-6,

Many members will be going to St Mellion and the Captain will run the rollup.
