Goodbye Yellow Ball – 12th October

Fewer took part than our normal roll up as a good number of seniors were off playing in the glorious autumn sunshine in Cornwall.

Nonetheless 10 three-man teams took to the course for the two-from-three yellow ball competition, plus another three for the rolling stableford – two early and one late. Despite the wonderful conditions, only two teams managed to keep hold of the yellow ball for the whole round – others starting to lose out from the first onwards, including the first two teams on the leader board!

In the end, the clear winners some 10 shots ahead were Roger Stone, Phil Hunt and John MacOmish with a credible 102 points (the captain having lost the yellow on the 16th).

Second place went to Danny Dowell, Keith Branchflower and Brian Anderson( lost ball on 12th), while third to Nobby Hodder, Bryan Frost and Keith Potter, who managed to return the yellow and clock up 91 points.

Two more yellows were lost on 4th (Mike King & Des Denning Teams), another on 7th ( Geoff & Co) and Malcolm was first to fall as his sailed over the Machinery Shed on the 1st !

Three birdies were recorded, one each to Dowell/ Branchflower/Anderson,  Stone/Hunt/MacOmish and Barrow/Denning/Pearce winning £5 per team.

Sweep money: £15 for 1st (plus a two shot cut) £10 for 2nd (one shot cut) and £5 for 3rd.

Roger Stone will be away for the next few weeks having a knee replacement – we all wish him luck and a speedy recovery. (Should his shots cut be held over until his return?)
