Captain Andy prepares for Presentation  after a splendid 3- course  Meal
of   Crusty Steak-Pie,   French Fries and Peas - served concurrently on a single plate

Yes..that is Sir Edward Bryden - whose fake retirement last Month seemed a little premature.

Congrats to Peter & Mark for both smelling beautifully at Dinner, nice to see there is some class around.

Sad news I'm afraid. Alastair Purcell one of the early birds has passed away following a short illness. Details about the funeral will be posted as soon as we have the information.

Info from Andy:-

Good afternoon

My husband, Alastair Purcell, passed away on Sunday 1st September after a short illness.

I don't know who his golfing friends were but would be very grateful if you would kindly pass this news on to relevant people. Many thanks. Naomi Gilchrist. Mob. 07792 829563

Monday 2nd September 2024

What a strange Day as we sat around in low cloud for an hour, awaiting to commence late roll up.

Andy, Steve, Mike etc were already out on the course and were called in by Clubhouse en-passant the Clubhouse.

Another Group, Gordon, Dennis & Ian - were never seen and presumably were beyond the point of no return and presumably just carried on probably the safest trio on the course as they were all alone.

Roll-Up started to drift away, when it suddenly lifted - too late to rescue  Bob the Builder.

Was very pleasant for an hour of so, until an annoying 'drizzle ' persisted. You had to chose between being dry and sweaty or  cool & wet.

Interesting as we passed a Vivary pairing on 17th - they were headed up the 7th - or at least Jeremy was !!

The other 3 were out in the road looking for a £350 Cobra Driver . One of the Vivary players had made an enormous swing on tee - which propelled his ball   40 feet.

Unfortunately, his body continued to turn as his hands lost their grip on the Club and 20 minutes later the shouts of 'We've found it'  could be heard from the road to Chaffcombe   as it had cleared the hedge and left the course.

Captain Andy Reports :-

Today's result against Vivary Park. It's a good win for CST. And bragging rights overall till next year.

Others had been playing in The Windwhistle Cup  on Sunday - defending the Title on some far away course    (where ?)  - when sirens sounded and thunderstorms closed the course.
