Gents, as we head towards the club Festival Week and my charity day on the 17th, I'd like to send out a reminder for donations for the raffle. These can be handed to any of the committee or our raffle tsar Jim at any time. Also, donations for the halfway house will also be appreciated. On that note, if there are any seniors not in a team on the day and can offer to help out in the halfway house or with booking in, then please let me know. Ian Thomas has already put his name forward.

Just 16 of us rolled-up to play the Qualifier as the forecast was none too clever. We braved it, however, and never had a spot of rain - a very pleasant day with good scoring.

Star of Today was John Sweet, playing Par 4 2nd hole put his 2nd shot 2 feet from the Pin and bagged a Birdie for 5 Points.

"I thought it was traditional to dive into the nearest pond after a net 'Hole-in One'  as I had 2 shots on that hole.

Not sure if Somerset Bowl Team kept quite so dry as they were out later on notched up a great 5 - 0 Win over Wincanton.

Gentlemen , this car parked alongside me today and damage has been caused to my car.

Both  driver and rear door have been damaged.

Matching red paint signs on my car and near side front damage to the Toyota match the damage caused.

No note was left by the driver.

As a favour can you put a plea on the blog?

“Whose car is this”?

Cheers

Wednesday 3rd July 2024

33 seniors made the trip to Isle of Wedmore GC for the Seniors Captain's away day. The course was in good condition, and everyone said they enjoyed their round. The food was good and we didn't get too wet.

30 - 36 points was good scoring, but there were a couple of great scores.

3rd on countback with 40 points was Nick Gabb

2nd on countback with 40 points was Peter Spencer-Farr

The winner with an impressive 41 points was David Asquith.

Thank you to everyone who came to make it a good day.

Andy

[03/07, 18:46] Jim Lauchlan: Thanks Captain for a great day, great course and great company

[03/07, 19:04] Jeremy Blackburn: Thanks for organising Andy - enjoyable day out!

Things are about to change up in our idyllic hideaway - as a big chunk of land is now under the control of Builders.

Can you imagine life a year from now, as a "Residents Committee"  of the 30 Owners start whinging about Parking, Noise, Behaviour, Errant balls, Social Events, blocked views ( Trees will die)..or are we being a bit cynical ?

If site is accurate in the Newspaper - quite an overlap down the side where Marquee was..wonder how happy they will be with new buildings for Trackmaster blocking views...Think 1st Hole becomes a Par 3 as Tee is moved well forward.
