December Weekend

Hope you are all warmed up after our fun up at the Club Yesterday...nice to see Barrie Heath rewarded after our 3,3,3,3 finish as he chipped in on 17th and sank a 25 foot putt on 18th , dodging the lumps of ice.

5 More shirt Orders added below

Took time to drive over new holes 8,9,10 and it it really coming on well....

Picture stolen from Club Website, where they have a great little Video Flyover of 8,9 & 10 as they are planned. The new Hill National Park in the middle forces big dog-legs in 8th & 10th - taking 10 back to a Par 5 and a beautiful water-feature alongside 9th Green. Cliuck on Picture to see it full size.

As usual on the Blog, we have taken great care in ensuring the truth

..does not get in the way of a good story.

Friday 1st December 2023

Those that have enquired about new “seniors polo shirts” as can be seen below, we are tied to Under Armour as that is all the pro shop are stocking, and in order to get a 30% discount we have to order from their “team wear” range.
However the nearest colour is Royal Blue as shown below.
Please let me have your thoughts on this. Other than that we can revamp our shirts by going outside the club, but we wouldn’t be able to have the logo. We would probably have
Cricket St. Thomas Seniors

Anyway please let me know what you think.
Andy

Not seen Bryan Frost for a while ?

well it's been 7 weeks as he has battled with a particularly nasty bout of Shingles - all around his head, under his chin, roof of his mouth etc.

He can barely leave the house as cold winds on his scar tissue amplify the pain.

Bryan bravely instructed us  to display his picture, showing the damage to his once beautiful face. He said the scars are like someone has been stubbing cigarettes out on his face,

He is half-way through his course of anti-virals, complicated by an ear infection and more anti-biotics.

Ironically The Shingles Jab is only available to those aged under 79  so he missed out.

So he advises - if you are offered the Jab - take it.

As he demonstrates above  "It's THIS    or THIS  "

Nice Glass of Port awaiting us all
 in the 19th..Cheers Chris
Had to smile as I saw Chris scoring 4 Points on 8th with his 'Ace' - as Jim Lauchlan making another 4 points on same hole - but he lost his '2's ' payment as Chris scooped the pot with his Hole in One.  Not to be out-done ..Mark Sanders scored 5 Points on 4th hole as he Birdied the hardest hole on the Course with 2 shots lowering his Birdie to a Nett 1....

It was all too much for Jim who was carted off from 11th ..hope the Knee is OK this morning Jim...too much dancing !

Lots of empathy for Bryan Frost and his Shingles Picture - quite a few had had it. Some miss-read the information ..if you are UNDER 79 you can get the Jab for Free.

From Captain Andy

Those that have enquired about new seniors polo shirts, I have attached a photo of the only colour blue that Under Armour supply. We have to go with their "team wear" range to qualify for a 30% discount.

The only other way we could go would be to purchase shirts from outside the club and get embroidery done outside  but we wouldn't be able to have the logo.

We would only have  Cricket St. Thomas  Seniors

Please let me have your thoughts.

And there were lots of them....

Monday 27th November 2023

The seniors and the ladies held the Christmas Cracker today, unfortunately due to the rain over the weekend some members had to withdraw due to a buggy ban.

That left 42 of us on a shotgun start to battle it out. The scoring was varied with 68 being the lowest and 86 the highest. On return to the clubhouse we sat down to a meal of “festive pie, roast potatoes and veg” the plate was absolutely packed and well worth the cost.

The raffle raised an incredible £335 for the Lady Captain's charity. Thank you all who bought tickets, and all those that donated prizes.

 Results were as follows:-

1st. Julie King, Bill Hilson & Keith Branchflower.  86 Points

2nd. Dave Mugridge, Clive Fisk & Terry Rutherford.

3rd. Emma Hilton, Martin Bargery & Bob Dennett.

Once again, thank you all for your support.

 Andy

No, I don't think we are blocking access to the Pro Shop as no-one knows where it is any more...

Friday 24th November 2023

Gentleman

Jim Lauchlan, has informed me of his decision to step down from running the seniors raffle, and I would like to thank him for his sterling effort over the last 12 months.

Moving forward, we now need to fill this important position in our section. If anyone or indeed if two people would like to take this on (as it would be less onerous), then please let myself or Keith know, equally, If anyone has any observations or ideas on this area of fund raising then again let me or Keith know.

Thank you

Andy
