Friendly at Enmore,
Cst win 4_1

Sadly this is the last friendly against Enmore, as they have had problems raising enough people to participate in events as well as being told to drop 3 friendly matches. So us, Lyme & one other club were the casualties. Will file a report for the blog tomorrow.
As specified, the match result was 4-1 CST

Thurs 26th Oct

CST Seniors we’re away today at Bridport & West GC. The weather was fairly kind to us with just a few short showers. The course was in good condition and the greens were very fast.

Despite rumours from our old bar manager Tim, the meal was very good and there was plenty of it.

The result was a win for CST 3 1/2 to 2 1/2

Andy Rowland & Mark Cording - Won
Chris Gingell & Keith Hunt - A/S
Peter Spencer-Farr & Martin Leigh - Won
Roger Hinds & James Siabi - Lost
Terry Rutherford & Barrie Heath - lost
Dave Mugridge & Derek Gardener - Won

James Siabi won our nearest the pin on the 6th hole.

Well done team a good result as we also beat them in the home match.

Just a comment Bridport's Captain made, we were the only team to win at Bridport this year, so also the only club to beat them home and away

We have 1 match left which is Friday at Enmore.

Andy Rowland
Match Captain

Fridays Stableford has been cancelled due to the ongoing work on the greens. It is felt that a fun team game (2 from 3 Stableford  Roll Up) would be better.

Gentlemen,  I would like to convene a Committee Meeting on Friday 3rd November, after roll up, approximately 1.30pm. to draw to a close my year as Senior’s Captain and formulate an Agenda for the AGM on Wednesday 15th  November. Agenda to be published asap.

Apols from :-

James - visiting Dad. / Dave M - St Lucia / David A -= New Zealand / Frank - Portugal / Norma - has Lymes Disease /  Mark C - away

Monday 23rd October 2023

Rob Coombs & Mark Cordings tee shots on 13. Both went on to make the putts and win themselves 98p

Cancelled by Captain - sounds like he is not too happy ..reasons later...

Event below building nicely -  JKP & Diana, Nick & Rosemary, Alan & Rosemary- with few more responses to come ( Stu, Norman, Dickie, J-Mac etc) - why not make up your own group - it's a lovely setting out there....

Lot more names on Ladies List in Locker Room - Not a Black Tie event, but hopefully suitable dressed to show due respect to our Ladies & Partners.

CST Seniors entertained Sidmouth Seniors on Thursday, the weather was rather concerning due to a heavy fog which was covering Cricket St Thomas until about 11:20, we did eventually manage to start about 12noon.

Captain Barrie Heath & Stuart Pope halved their match

Keith Hunt & John Baker halved

John Wandless & Dennis Hussey won 1up

David Asquith & Jim Lauchlan won 6&5

Mark Cording & Peter Spencer-Farr won 6&5

Chris Gingell & Roger Davis won 3&2

So the match score was a 5-1 win, over the home and away matches we won 7-5.

This was our last home match for this year, but we do have two away matches left, at Bridport & Enmore.

 Barrie (match day Captain).

Greensomes Matchplay

GREENSOMES MATCHPLAY Format, Scoring, Handicap Allowance

Team competition with just two teams competing against each other, played under matchplay rules, scored as in matchplay. The team aggregate handicap allowance is calculated as follows:

• take 60% of the playing handicap of the lower handicapped player (do not round)

• and 40% of the playing handicap of the higher handicapped partner (do not round)

• add these and round the result to the nearest integer (≥0.5 is rounded up, <0.5 is rounded down).

The team with the lower aggregate handicap plays off scratch, while the opposing team plays off the difference between the aggregate handicaps.
