SENIORS MIXED OPEN
TUESDAY 1st JUNE
Glorious sunshine ☀️ greeted 27 mixed seniors pairs to the first CST Open competition of the year.
The course was in magnificent condition but with a strong southwesterly breeze scoring become difficult as the day progressed.
The away teams were extremely complimentary of the organisation of the day, the friendliness of their CST pairs, and the quality of the food, as well as the condition of the course.
Big thanks to those who helped on the day, Donna Ladies Captain, and Barbara Shaw for organising the day, getting baking and prizes from the ladies.
Quinny Lawrence for the computer program of the results, so expertly viewed on the big screen in Horizons. Chris Gingell for adjudication of the score cards, and a special thank you to Ray Gudge for stepping in at the last moment to man the half way house, and Alan Chance for setting up the gazebo.
To all the ladies and seniors who donated prizes for the raffle and baking for the half way house. Dickie Hall for extracting as much money as possible from the entrants for the raffle. Total funds raised were in excess of £220, which will be split between the Ladies and Senior Captains charities.
Thanks to all the CST staff especially Lisa, Katie and Matt (the ladies loved being directed by a young handsome man at the start).
Oh, I nearly forgot, the results.
- 1st Mark Cording & Kay Fawcett 45 pts
- 2nd Mike & Jan Wilkes 42 pts
- 3rd Rita Denman & Martyn Hartley 41 pts
(Captain Covid owes me a pint for organising his excellent playing partner at the last moment)
Captain's Report 2 from 4 Discard Monday 31 May 2021
The warmest day of the year, yielded record numbers at Lyme Regis beach but unfortunately not at CST.
Our thoughts are with Vice Captain Mugridge who had to be buggied in, suffering from double vision.
Hopefully there is nothing seriously wrong Dave. The winning team Messrs. Ireland, Housham, Trott and Agar, again proves our varied selection
of formats allows teams of all handicaps to win. There was just one two recorded so well done Messrs.Rees, Dawson, England and Fielder.
It was also farewell to John Twose, who is moving to Long Sutton, no doubt their bar takings will suddenly improve. Unfortunately the bar was very
busy and the service too slow so his farewell was cut short.
Tomorrow is the Charity Mixed Open, starting at 11am if you are not sunning yourselves John Wandless could do with a couple of helpers with the
halfway house. Thank you to all those who have given raffle prizes and helped with the event.
Wednesday is the Monthly Stableford and there have been some issues with the on-line entry system, so please check the drawn startsheet, if you
do not appear let me or John Wandless know urgently. The draws for the Summer Singles and Foursomes was made today at the club, so James
will be publishing this soon. The matches can be played from tomorrow.

CAPTAIN'S REPORT ON FRIDAY 28 MAY 4BBB
Sorry it's a bit late.( even later as JKP away in hampshire)...
My apologies also for the duff info on the sports bar opening, too many people involved.
Cyd, Katie and Penny had agreed in principal and Katie promised to let me know by email if it was not to open.
I had no email but whist on my way out to dinner on Thursday Night called into the club. Katie told me then
that Lisa had said no. Arriving home very late forgot to put on blog but not many of you would have read it after
Midnight.
After an early shower the weather finally kicked in with temperatures over 20 degrees. The course was looking
Very good and the greens were excellent. Still some issues with certain areas that should be ground under repair
and please note we have mentioned these several times to the powers at be. No harm for all Section members
to also individually complain.
The modified roll up draws are working well with many using the early or mid draws to spread out numbers. Captain
and Vice Captain were victorious and the Vice also got two 2's on his own.
BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY. is now a two from four discard with 10 & 15 as par 5's PLEASE SUPPORT THIS ROLL UP
AS THE CLUB HAVE EYES ON OUR BANK HOLIDAY SLOTS. Still the three draw times.

Match Report
John Twose came in to make it 5-3, but James had arrived looking dreadful, running a temperature & seeking paracetamol.
A nervous wait ensued & he came in, still very ashen, but with the vital half.
CST gave shots (up to 6) to every opponent except in the last match, so it was fantastic all round performance.
Coffee beforehand & Chips and Sandwiches afterwards in the clubhouse was highlighted by the opposing Captain as a welcome return to some form of golfing normality & very good value at £10

Texas Scramble
Update for the blog
Came Down were unable to provide a new date for our third round before the
Challenge Cup final so we have booked Downes Crediton for the 14th June.
Norman will put an entry form in the changing rooms or you can enter by sending
him a what's app as for previous rounds For info the first tee time will
be 1pm and you can have a bacon roll and coffee for lunch (included in the
price) prior to golf
Thanks
Norman
Our
second roll up style competition, attracted a substantial increase in players
with 48 a perfect number for a fourball scramble. Hopefully your
handicap calculations were accurate. Scrutineer Chris has not reported
any inaccuracies. Results are shown below.
Three
great pieces of news:-
1. The Captain’s team won
2. The sports bar will be open from 8am on Friday for drinks and possibly
food
3. We have arranged round three of the Challenge Cup , for the 14th June
Friday
28th is now a fourball betterball to save John and Chris headaches, we will
still be holding 3 draws 07.45/08.15/08.45 to spread out numbers but now
upstairs.
Bank
Holiday Monday 31st May is now a 2 from from 4 discard 1x3 1 x4 1x5 with 10 and
15 as par 5’s. Please support this as Alex is constantly trying to
take away our Bank Holiday tee slots.
