2021
What a Start
Following tonight’s announcement from the Government, we are unfortunately having to close the course and all facilities again as of midnight. I will keep all members updated as the situation progresses.
Thank you, as always, for your continued patience and support over the last nine months. This is not how we would have liked to have started 2021 however the decision is out of our hands.
Take care, stay safe and speak again soon.
Kind Regards,
Alex Hill
Note, this is a precis of the statement by CST Management, the full statement was Emailed directly to members.
Plenty were out playing on Monday, with a bevvy on 37 and 36 points but as we departed, Rod was just ahead on 38 .
Love John Sweet's statement on 1st Tee as we calculated handicap Index, Course Handicap and finally Playing Handicap at 95%.....when the number '40' was finally agreed, he said ..." so that means I just get 3 shots on 4 of the holes then "....but he did play pretty steady with 20 points on the front 9 and 17 on the way home.
From what we could find :-
Rod won Div 1 with 38, followed by Dave & Mark on 37.
Neil topped Div 2 with 37, same score as John Pearce, Richard D was 3rd on 33.
Richard Agar was leader of Div 3 with 37, with John Sweet on same score, also Eric S.
6 Birdies , 2 each for Martin Leigh & Dave Mugridge, 1 each for Ian G and Albie.
Biggest haul of day was Albie Bonain who Birdied the 15th, into a cold head-wind for a massive 5 Point Haul....as he has 2 shots.
Muggo stormed the back 9 in just 34 shots Gross..mind you he drew blank on the 1st Hole with an NR !
James was first out and as we passed him on the the 18th, he could barely hold a club. It never got above Zero and the wind-chill was 10 degrees below that. He says he has warmer clothing, but nothing in light grey as the fashion-Diva within him insisted standards were maintained.
..but over in Merriott.....
1st January 2021
Congratulations to James (Jay) Parkhouse for the impressive winning total of 45 points, I will be asking him for tips on getting the ball in the hole on these temps. With 18 temporary greens all completely frozen and the ball picking up ice as it rolled, meant most of us struggled but clearly not our latest new member. James also managed 2 birdies, not bad for a 33 handicap golfer. The full list of scores is available on the club website, but for last years and this years captains it does not make good reading.

Seniors Captain
Golf England interpretation.
Don't you think it's a tad ironic that the clean-living Seniors of Devon & Dorset cannot travel to rat-infested Somerset for a game of golf....
Great to see Captain walk out with a start Sheet for last Friday's 4BBB with all the handicap Information already printed.
So it starts with your Handicap Index, then gives you the Course Handicap ( which is obviously for CST Yellow) - then the one you need, your Playing Handicap - which is how many strokes you are getting today. As a 4BBB it was 85%.
