                                        TIER 4 GOLF COMPETITIONS

Good evening Gentlemen, at least we can still play in two balls or can we?

The course will be open but there is confusion whether people in Tier 3 can travel to CST, now in Tier 4.

One part of the government website says no, the other says yes to play sport or exercise.

This needs clarification but the final  decision  may well be a personal one.    We will hopefully continue to post competitions, all individual, with on-line entry and a closing date.

Once the entries are collated, if the numbers exceed tee times, a ballot will be held, followed by the draw.

If you have entered and can not play please let myself or John Wandless know.

The computer will still have our Seniors tee reservation blocks, but if numbers outweigh 2 ball slots it might be wise to book extra tee times first thing in the morning 7 days before.      We can then arrange the competitions over the whole day, with cards via the computer.

Not ideal but hopefully the new vaccine rapidly reduces the pressures and things return to normality.

Stay well and have a Happy New Year.

Seniors Captain.

You can withdraw by clicking this button and you will be asked to confirm your withdrawal.

Remember Family Bubbles can still play in 4 balls.

4 BALL BETTERBALL STABLEFORD Weds, 30 Dec.

Hooray, we managed a full round with no rain and the course had dried out remarkably.

All main greens but dome mats, meant the scores were excellent.    Congratulations to Rod Stevens and Andrew Campbell for the winning score of 47 points.    There were a few comments between partners such as " nice to see you on the card", but the top three teams obviously dovetailed nicely.     The full results can be see on the club website for those not on the podium.    We are currently working on a system for draws, now that we are in Tier 4.    Watch this space for details.

1st.   Rod Stevens & Andrew Campbell.            47 pts.     £9.50 ea

2nd. Mark Cording & Dave Asquith.                  45 pts.     £5.70 ea

3rd. Martin Leigh & James Parkhouse.             44 pts.     £3.80 ea

Christmas Scramble

Captain & Vice had to think on their feet as a steady trickle of cancellations came through - and we certainly appreciate the communications, Lisa was happily at the Pro-Shop Desk and taking calls etc.

We witnessed The  Eggs getting a bit of a soaking at 08:15 ish - and there was certainly ice on the course - but we were dry  for the whole round, which was great.

In Dave's group, Steve had already put a drive in A1 position, so egged-on  by a decent crowd, Dave went straight for the temporary Green on the 1st Hole - across the corner.  It all looked good as the ball was struck, but alas was not found and they had to settle for a Birdie 4 from Steve's Drive.

...what do you mean did we get a picture...of course we did,,,

Thanks to Colin for graciously walking around with the last 4-ball as he wound up alone.

The penultimate 4-ball got some stick from the '5-ball' as they had to wait a couple of times. Made decision to take Nick's Drive on 16th to get a Drive in. We were trying very hard to avoid a bogey..but failed.

Our reward  ( JKP, Nick, Simon & Ken) - was to bag an Eagle 2 on the 17th as we were able to take Simon's Drive - as he hit yet another great drive to the edge of the Green.  We submitted a Gross 33 , Nett 24 & change after spending 30 minutes calculating the allowance...

A x 0.25 + B x 0.20 + C x 0.15 + D x 0.10  = 18.5.

We saw Norman's Card with a Gross 35, Nett  29

John Evans also had a Gross 33 but handicaps less as they had start like Admin Noodle-Poo ,  and     James Parkhouse.

John MacOmish looked to have a tidy 9-hole score as the 1st 3-ball played an Individual.

Now for my next amazing moment when Farmer Bob sent in his answers to the 50 name anagrams - I thought that it would be nigh impossible for anyone to complete. There were a couple of errors ( by me)  and No.14 was a screw-up - should have been Eh ! - Jet Snow ?  - for John Sweet.

I messed it up when I randomised it so that you couldn't just go down the alphabet a-z. Bob set Margaret on finding Christian Names - then passing back to him. Bob said he then had a major advantage as he'd disqualified most of the names at some time !!!

They have both been busy gradually getting ready to move to their new bungalow in Axminster..with Mrs B insisting one of the garages is kept clear for her car and it doesn't become a Farmer Bob junk store. He's booked to play in the Scramble Monday, but only if Buggies are allowed...can't  resist playing with Danny once more.

So to the Quiz, results are as below and well done to anyone who got close.  I have his hand written entry , signed and dated - so have to declare him the winner at this time.....but I have my DQ stamp ready just in case.

Just heard that the Seventy Drones as well as Bob Terror War cracked the codes as well, along with Liz of course...had to apologise for ruining their Christmas Dinner as they struggled with No.14 ...which was my cock-up...

Also done by Shall Hi Colin & the Avid Mud-Digger..just amazed how many cracked them...I'll have to make even more mistakes next time...

Here are the answers

It was great fun with the names and how some of you translated, Stuart ( No 48) is a massive Rugby fan.   Bill Hilson (No.5) is married to 'Lilli'...and I'm not sure what Lyndsey thinks of his anagram...no comment. You also had to watch out for Chris becoming Christopher etc...I liked Peter 3-names,  Edmondo and quite a few others.
