   Christmas 3-ball...or something similar

we'll  just post an interim report in case Captain doesn't issue anything on a bit of a make&mend sort of day.

Appreciate all the various notifications about rain-checks from members, as it gave us moral authority to shuffle teams about with being nervous about last minute arrivals.

See below what we were faced with:-

Yes, 18 cancellations out of 33 !

All pretty simple as steady trickle of those wishing to  play, despite a poor outlook, only 9 holes, all temporaries and extremely wet underfoot - definitely zero buggies.

Met new Senior James Parkhouse, who went out first with Clive & The DA. 2nd trio were Neil C, Dickie and Andy Rowland.

JKP went out with Mike Hone and James Siabi  and then there was a lull.

Captain had already decreed that we should stick to Individual Comps as we may have to filed 2,3 or 4 Man Teams.

Early groups had some pretty decent weather to start with , punctuated with the odd light shower, but the first 9 felt very playable and we all happily set off for a second set of 9-holes.

Meantime Norman, Skipper, Vice, Interesting Davis, Mark S, Martin arrived and ending up with a 3-ball, leaving Dave to wait for stragglers - who never arrived so Muggo joined our 3-ball as we transited down to 5th Tee.

As said, quite playable course and scores were reasonable. James amassed  16 on the front 9; Mike had 18 and JKP toddles along on 17.. Dave M joined us from the 5th and with not even a practice shot made Par on his 1st hole, the 5th. He made light work of 6th with a monster drive  etc.

We started 2nd 9 and Dave took on the corner on the 1st hole and nearly ran out of fairway !

We continued, following Neil & Andy who were a 2-ball with Dickie seeing sense and pulling out.

Our card from this morning,now it's dry. Dickie(9holes) 17points, Neil(18 holes) 30points Andy(18holes)31points have a good Christmas all and stay safe👍  Andy

Just like the previous day, the Cloud then descended and visibility reduced as a very persistent drizzle dampened our ardour . Muggo was having trouble seeing anything with his Billy-Bunter specs, so took them off on the 4th Tee ( our 13th Hole) - His Drive barely contacted the ball, headed towards the nearest hedge and came to rest OOB. Retrieving his ball he tried again with a little more success..but by this time we had all agreed that passing our Cars for a 2nd time was too much of  a Temptation, so we headed  for home.

Apologies to those that carried on and completed the Course, our full respect as usual.
