1,2,3, Stableford
Sunday update:- just lost Tony Stenhouse from 09:38 ( Thanks for early notice Tony) -
JW has posted a handy document on his WHS Page, giving you a handy way to quickly get your Playing Handicap for whatever Game we are playing...
Hi Seniors:-
On the World Handicap System page of the blog I’ve posted
a cross reference table which allows you to look up your Playing Handicap %
from your Handicap Index from both Yellow and White tees.
Hopefully it is fairly simple, look up your Handicap
index in the left column, determine which tee the competition is played from,
and the % Playing Handicap from that tee, and that will give you the shots
allowance.
I will post a hard copy on the the Seniors notice board
in the club changing room on Tuesday.
It may assist the scrutiniser tomorrow with trying to
check the MedalFord cards. Best of luck to whoever is carrying out that task.
John W
Remember, for the pair playing Medal, you need to write the Gross in the A or B Column and the Nett in the R/H column, so just like the Stableford, apply Handicap hole by hole. You can do on 1 card, but it's sure simpler to do 2 cards & cross check at the end.
Some clarification from our Vice Captain:-
I
erroneously thought that with the tees so far forward, 115/113 element of the
handicap calculation no longer applied. Following points raised by Neil Cochran
& Dave Asquith, I’ve had clarification from JW that I was wrong.
Your Playing Handicap will be a % of your
Course Handicap dependent on the format of golf you are playing that day.
MON. 14th. 4 BALL MEDALFORD
The Captain has asked me to carry out a totally random draw, similar to a roll up, which I’ve done, (random number generator) and it has resulted in some interesting pairings.
Remember:- The the draw is totally random, so any complaints please forward to E.R.N.I.E who also does the Premium Bond Draws.
Thanks,
John W

When asked if 4 Players chose the Team make-Up, JW Replied:-
Part of the fun is watching 4 Seniors arguing about who is playing Medal and who is playing Stableford. Of course they can choose who plays what, and then after the round the incriminations and “I told you so”. Have fun with your group.
Also Once decided, Teams stick with chosen format for 18 Holes, no changing format half-way etc - just subtract Stableford Score from the Medal Score...and try to get lower than 20....

Vice Captain's Report
Firstly, it’s been great fun checking handicaps, cards,
scores & points.
Not everybody got it right and several entered scores on
the hole but got points incorrect, especially on holes where they would
normally get a stroke at full handicap or the old 90%.
e.g. Handicap of 17.2 is rounded to 17…….85% of 17 =
14.45, which is rounded to 14 (Not 17.2 x 0.85 = 14.62, rounded to 15)
One team thought they had got 82 points. I’ve checked
& rechecked their card & they lost 3 pts on 17 where they had scored
6/5/5, with none getting a stroke. They had calculated 5 pts, which would be right,
if playing off full handicap.
Results:
1. Dowell/Hone/Pearce 80
pts £6-50
per player (£19-50 total)
2. Gardener/Chance/Scarborough 79 pts £3-90 per player (£11-70 total)
3. Gingell/Rees/Agar 78
pts £2-60
per player (£7-80 total)
There were 5 two’s, paying £1-30 per player per birdie.
2 x Gardener/Chance/Scarborough (2 x 2’s on 9th, for an 8
pt hole)
1 x Frost/Stevens/ Young (9th)
1 x Davis/Redwood/Paoloni (2nd)
1 x Hinds/Southgate/Sweet (16th)
Lowest total for the day were 2 cards with 59 pts . No team
blobbed a hole although one team did only get 1 pt on a 3 to count hole. There
were 7 x 8 pointers and one team had a 9 pointer (13th where each player got 3
pts). There were 5 individuals who contributed 4 pts on a single hole to the
team score.
Being at the back of the field, had plenty of time to
replace divots & repair pitch marks
Dave
PS. Nice birdie at the last for JKP, to sneak his team
into 1st place.
